I was seriously reading all the comments sitting like that, with my hand tucked under my chin. I just seem to do it subconciously, like when Im in school and the teacher is ranting.

I probably do, although I tend to figit more than anything. If there's a clickie pen next to me when I am anxious, expect to hear clickclickclickclickclickclick! I tend to twitch my feet/legs. Sometimes people may think my leg is tremoring.

That hand to chest posture, I used to use. I used a variant, which was like a praying mantis and that was used when walking through crowds. I sometimes held my arms out like I was trying to part curtains. I did this until I got made fun of. After that I kind of lost interest in doing it. I also curl my hand and prop up my head. It hurts my wrist though so I can't do it often. Even so I keep trying to do the motion, hand to chin or hand to lip. I guess while I am using my mouse, my left arm can't be just laying flat.

I don't shake my hands unless I am stressed. If I am stressed then I shake my arms up in the air. Sometimes/often making fists. One trigger is when my computer starts going in snail mod. For example, I typed up two sentences, but my computer is stuck, so nothing occurs until 40 seconds later. For about 20-30 of those seconds I may be shaking my arms or shaking my mouse in the air.

I don't tend to notice myself rocking but I wiggle in my chair. Those swivel chairs are a must. I tend to go through many chairs because I'm wiggling, kneeling, squatting, leaning back, twirling, etc. Of course this is done at home. Out in public I don't squirm as much, but I still squirm. I wiggle my toes a lot and move my feet.

Anyone find those office chairs on wheels like the office version of the tilt-a-whirl? I hope I'm not the only one who likes to get dizzy when I am bored.

actually, with the dizzy thing, when I was little, I used to just spin in circles in the middle of the room. I did that until I was like 12 and almost broke the TV. When I didn't know what to do, I would just spin.

I used to love spinning in circles when I was a kid! Who am I kidding, I still do... My ASD boys have a platform swing in the living room that I take for a spin when no one's around. That thing can really get going!

Yes, it is probably classed as "stereotyped" and all that, but what it is is a gesture with meaning. Just like many other stims are. Stims wouldn't be connected to moods if they were "stereotypy" without meaning.

I like the pictures, but I would like short videos of stims even better. What I would want to do is to show people in Aspie-quiz videos of various stims and let them guess what the other person feels. Aspie-theory-of-mind. I'm pretty sure that Aspies will be better at reading Aspie-theory-of-mind and that NTs will be failures at understanding.

yes, i do this....bending hands back and forth, fingers naturally curled in and clench/unclench my toes

i do the thing where i hold my hands up to my chest, like i'm a little-armed dinosaur.....i don't actually do this much anymore, but i did it when i was a kid all the way into middle school.....makes it even more strange to me that i was never diagnosed as a kid, though me being autistic was suggested, just never pursued/ignored by my parents

it was never a very conscious decision to hold my arms up like a bunny, they would just sort of gradually make their way up there....if i was with my mom she would usually tell me to stop

I don't really curl up my hands normally--or at least not that I've noticed.

EDIT: And right as I post this...I catch myself doing it. 8O I curl up my right hand and rest my cheek against it.

I'll also reach around and grab the back of my neck with my right hand. I hold my hands up by my chest when I sleep; I'm not sure what else to do with them then.

I do this a lot, I've noticed, like when I'm on the bus or sitting down.

I did this until I was 15 or so and we moved to a smaller place where I didn't have as much space to spin. I still like spinning chairs, though. Never made the connection between that and AS until just recently.

Often. I just keep them curled around things- I don't always move them, but sometimes I rub things while doing it.

I think I do almost the same hand folding/curling thing as the original poster. With mine it is like my left hand is curled against my chest, but held down by my head at the same time.
