Did he create an earthquake machine to cause or to predict earthquakes?

What did he actually invent? I had a friend who was telling me about his brilliant inventions, but not all of what he read seemed to be factual. Some online snake oil salesmen were selling junk that they claimed was invented by Tesla to ward off bad spirits and energy. I'm sure you've heard of that freaky new wave Coast to Coast stuff. Please enlighten me.

According to a friend of mine he designed a combustion engine that, when constructed with modern materials, is still the most efficient combustion engine ever built.

I think it was for destructive purposes

I think I was wrong about it actually working it was tested on mythbusters and although it caused an actual bridge to vibrate 8O it did not causes an earthquake

Aw, I wish it'd worked. Myth Busters is an awesome show. If it could make a bridge vibrate, you might be able to use it to completely ruin the foundation of someone's house.

Yeah, but you can't MASTER those interests. Like you have an interest in football, you know the rules and how the game works, but when you actualy play, even after months of playing you still suck at it.

there aree many NT's with interests in football that do not actually play either. My dad at one time did (he has grown out of it).
Some people are just not good at playing sports. If you really like playing do not give up try applying what you know on the field. It is not like you can not play for fun either.

maybe this will give you some confidence :)

That MythBusters episode was BS. How can a couple of guys expect to re-create the work of one of the greatest geniuses just for a TV show? Nikola Tesla was able to do some things that scientists today cannot figure out. For instance, he was able to create ball lightning in a laboratory setting. Nobody today quite knows how that worked. When he died, he had several projects involving still-futuristic weaponry in the making that were deemed so important by the US government that the documents relating to them were confiscated and still remain a mystery. I hate to see people dismiss this great man's inventions because they saw MythBusters "disprove" them.

I didn't post that. He was brilliant, and it's a shame he couldn't have lived in our time. Just imagine how much more advanced we might be if he'd finished some of that work. It really sucks to be ahead of ones time.

Oh, sorry about the misquote, Kate. I kind of messed up the formatting there. Sorry, I'm a bit under the influence, but what I said about Tesla still stands...

How so, their the ones who complain that we never shut up about them.
I'm just wondering what NT's have against interests. Why do we have them and they don't?

Nikola Tesla invented radio, radio-controlled devices (first demonstrated in 1898), alternating-current power transmission, wireless power transmission, brushless inductive electric motors, and the bladeless turbine. His bio also shows behaviors that may have marked him as one of our own (naivete, strong belief in justice, obsession with electricity and pigeons, strongly visual imagination).

You can find more about Tesla here.

Special interests? Disgusting? That one really gets my goat. Who are these people?

Truth is, most of us wouldn’t have anything to live for without special interests. Society expects us to “tone down” our interests in order to fit in. You can see the roots of depression here. The majority NT society has concluded that becoming too excited about anything other than sports, sex, or financial success is socially unacceptable.

F*** that! The majority just don’t deserve to live in the 21st century. They should go back to living in caves for all I care. Or at least stop reproducing. Yes, I’m an angry misanthrope.

Self-hate topic

This is one interest I do not wish to investigate. :x
