Have you ever had a really sh***y psychologist?
I'm pretty sure that's a test of understanding metaphorical expressions...
At least here in Dutch there is a saying that goes "It's better to have 1 bird in your hand, then 10 up in the sky".
Because, YES, you *can* eat the one in your hand, but not those in the sky...
Obviously it's a very old proverb, as people don't eat too many birds that fly nowadays.
Perhaps you could sell or pet the bird in your hand, because you have it at least...
Ten in your hand would be better, but I guess it means "Be happy with what you *do* have, instead of being angry you didn't get more from life!".
Anyway, if I am correct and it was a test of understanding metaphores you just missed that, and it might not make the therapist suck...
Just because you don't understand the goal of a question doesn't make it strange or useless

I have a feeling that many people wouldn't like my psychologist. She talks too much about herself. She can be catty and bitchy. She gets important psychological concepts wrong. She also skirts really close to breaking professional boundaries.
But I love her.
I have a psychiatrist that everyone thinks is the bees knees. He registers a "meh" out of me, though.

Most are terrible. There are good ones out there, but they are rare.
I have found a way to screen them: diagnosis made at initial meeting. If they do this, I run. This indicates to me, that they are fairly useless and unable to think freely. They tend to shape you into a diagnosis.

1. Psychiatrists only see you for 1 hour or maybe a little less on your first meeting, to get to know you, even if you've had a replacement psychiatrist, and then every meet after that you'll get about 10 minutes out of them. They are only there to diagnose and prescribe meds, but whoever OP had, if he was a psychologist, he couldn't do anything about diagnosing anyway since he wasn't qualified, and if you meant psychiatrist, then he should have listened to you, but he wouldn't have been able to give you any advice on how to feel better except give you medication.
2. Psychologists do not diagnose. They are therapists. They don't really prescribe meds. Some do if they're qualified but chose a psychologist position, but they're not really supposed to.
3. If you want to see someone about a diagnosis with mental problems, then you see a psychiatrist, not a psychologist.
4. If you want to see someone about therapy about mental problems, then you see a psychologist, not a psychiatrist.
5. I have had bad experience with psychiatrists, yes, but I've not had any bad experience with psychologists. My current psychologist/therapist is great, and the group I do is also great. This is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy I'm talking about by the way for Borderline Personality Disorder. It's nothing to do with ADD/ADHD or AS.
