I try to avoid them. Don't like sitting close to people and I allways seems to attract strange people, drunks, mad and stoned people. In such occations I'm polite and that seems to make them go on forever. Glad I get around in my own car.

lol. I remember people saying Toronto thinks they're New York, etc. They are the largest city in csnada and provide a bunch of services and all but lol

I haven't been to NYC but didn't that whole Wal Mart thing happen there? You know the story about what happened in Black Friday.. a stampede crushed an employee to death and couldn't care less about that?

That happened in one of the suburbs technically, not in the city proper I believe

Yeah rap is ok but why do some people play it open speaker? Do they think everyone is going to like it? I listen to my music with earphones and I don't even crank the volume up.

They probably lack TOM. They like the music so they think everyone else will like it too or they just don't care.

that too.

Thank god the people here don't shove or push each other as they get on the train or bus or as they get off. I heard they do that back east in real big cities; New York, Chicago.
People here are pretty friendly and polite. It seems like an autistic friendly city too. The signs are literal. "Right turn only except bus."
In the mornings, people are hardly talking simply because they are just waking up and they are going to work. In the afternoons people talk. They must know each other because I don't generally see people talking to others they don't know. I have rode in the afternoon and I see people on the bus and I wouldn't see them talking. Only time they start talking is if they know each other. You can run into the same people on the bus if you both happen to take the same route and ride it at the same time of day. I have even seen the same bus drivers.

Heck I would do the same thing too if someone didn't move their bag but I wouldn't throw it. I would just set it on the person's lap. One time a guy on the bus got mad at me for touching his lap top carry case because he wouldn't move it. He said "I can move it" in a very rude voice.
Well, why didn't he before when I asked if he can move it so I can sit?

Then when there were more empty seats, I moved away from that guy. I don't deal with those people. Face it guy, when the bus is crowded, you need to move your stuff when they ask you to or expect them to move it for you.

Oh, guess I forgot to mention: there WERE empty seats! She just wanted to sit by me, for some reason, and I hate that. That´s why I didn´t move my bag. But when it´s crowded, I put the bag tightly next to me, on my seat- so the person next to me still has a free seat, it´s just if they are big or if they spread out onto my seat, they touch my bag instead of me. But still, people get angry about that...they´d rather be touching me! (ugh). I can´t stand to be touched by people on the subway! And it ALWAYS happens that the biggest, fattest person sits next to me....it´s like they are attracted to my seat. That´s why I do it, and I can´t stop.

I enjoy taking the public transit bus.

I'd take it to work everyday, but I start usually around 3-5am, when buses don't run.

I've never had a negative encounter of taking the bus for years, even late at night, or to and from school everyday. I've seen my fair share of weird people, but nothing's happened to me.

I think people are not supposed to sit next to somone unless there are no empty seats with no one sitting next to them. Isn't that the case with you? There were empty seats but none of them were empty with no one sitting next to them? So she happened to choose the seat next to yours?

No, there were empty seats with no one sitting next to them- she could have sat across form me, for instance. However, maybe she didn´t want to ride backwards. I notice people in Germany all fight for the seats that face forwards.

And they say we are inflexible?

Look at all those people, they need to learn how be flexible to sit facing their back to the front.

New York is very autistic friendly. The attitude there, we don't care, you are yourself.

Also, I like Boston's T(except the Green Line, for so many reasons). The T is my favorite subway system, though the Washington Metro comes close.

I really don't care if people talk or even breatfeed. Makes no difference to me (Again, it's the New York attitude).

That's cool. I heard people don't answer you when you try talking to them, people don't really care if they hear commotion, so they won't bother to check it out. Is that right?

I once saw a fabulous cartoon in the New Yorker. A lady and her husband have been abducted by aliens, and the inside of the flying saucer looks just like a car on the underground. She's looking at him, and says "I just thought somehow they'd be more advanced."

i grew up in the city. i had special seats i would seek out on each vehicle. the main obkective was to sit alone with adequte space from others. peak hours were terrible. i was in the city recently and could not STAND the noise of the trains when i took my son on one. i hate the sity - too much stimulus and overload for me.

They do that in Australia too.
I choose the seats that face backwards on purpose so that no one will sit next to me. I also have no problem with sitting backwards. I don't know why people think it's so bad.
OK there is some sensory overload watching the streets go by backwards, but I try not to look at it.

I usually hold all my bags so people won't act like asses to me and touch my things. Touch my camera bag and that's the last time you'll get to use that hand.
The last time I was on the bus a woman almost went off at someone who didn't move her bag. She had a child so didn't bother and sat on my side instead.
The first time I was on a bus my sister yelled at me to not leave my bag on the seat. I didn't understand why at the time. I don't think anyone would want to sit next to me.

That´s my strategy too. Although, when the train is empty, I prefer facing front.

Shame people here don't fight to sit forward. :(

That sounds like fun to watch.

I'm ok, but only if it isn't crowded/full or if it doesn't have anyone annoying me.
