You can watch it on youtube.

I didn't know it was filmed there either until I saw it was and then I forgot about it and then when I saw the movie again when I was 17, it said Spokane on her medical ID card and it said in the paper in the doctor's office.

I'd love a meet-up. Unfortunately, there isn't one planned in Europe. And North America is too far for me.

I'd go to it.

I wont say that I don't think people would like to meet me, but I will say that my interests and opinions make it hard for me to associate with people.

We should all go skating though, I can do that pretty well! I know I know, some of you will fall and break their tails, but humans don't have those anyways!

I'm in Portland. I'd meet almost anyone here. I will not travel to meet. I am hoping to go to the aspie gathering again this weekend. I hope I'm off again on Sunday.

I wouldn't mind meeting some Spokeaspies if I'm going to Spokane.

You live in Portland? I only just moved up here from portland about a year ago. I rather liked it there. Powell's Books is the BEST place ever. Every other week when I'd get a paycheck I'd go to Powell's, buy a book or five, and then go to the pizza joint across the street and get 2 slices and a large drink. It was awesome. I really miss those days. Btw, if you're ever craving the best burger in existence... Look up a place called Tubbies Deli. Its on Yeon Ave, which is kinda out of the way for most people... but omg, their Double Tubby Burger(or even the normal tubby burger) is the best burger Ive ever had... Period. I used to eat them every day for lunch when I worked right across the street. It made lunch pure bliss.

It sounds like a lot of us would like to meet, but the travel issue can stymie things. But like I said earlier, we could always find people in our general area and meet---unless some wanted to travel greater distances. If nothing else, it is fun in planning and thinking about it. But we should keep open-minded on this---who knows what might happen.

Now, let me bring this up. Autism is something that usually captures the interest of people---and often through the media. WrongPlanet has got to be the largest online community of we autistic people in the world (at least I think). It has even received media attention. Could you imagine this happening---a network sponsored gathering of members of the WrongPlanet and telling about our lives? Those of us that chose to have our stories aired on television could do so, while those who did not want any coverage could opt to remain out of the camera's view. It certainly is a way that expenses could be covered. But it kind of takes the personal touch away from this so-called meeting doesn't it? I am just rambling ideas. But I can see it now:

"Tonight on the Discovery Channel(or other station), members of the largest online community of autistics (Asperger's, etc.) meet in a homecoming............."

What a great idea! I was about to say, it would be awesome to all meet up some place, but logistically impossible due to expense and distance. You'd have to find a media outlet willing to sponsor us though, and also there are over 20,000 members of WP (how could they possibly pay for that many people, and then how could they pick and choose which ones to fly in?)
It's a nice thought though...

Yeah, there are a number of people I'd like to meet on WP.

And a super-awkward aspie conference would certainly be interesting.

I'd really like to see a map of where we are all concentrated, geographically.

Seems like most of you are nowhere near me.

well, the ones best at politics would convince them to choose them, of course. This is how NTs choose ANYTHING.

First of all, I doubt that high of a number would actually seriously consider this. I would seriously consider though, and I think those of us on this thread right now would be serious. But to be honest, I wonder what percentage of members of WP I have actually seen posts from? There must be a large amount that are not actively involved in these posts, I don't know---just speculation.

Second, suppose a large amount was interested. The network could not sponser the whole bunch of us. It would pick certain ones. Then, those of us who were not picked who still wanted to do it would have to pay our own way.

Third, if this were to be planned, we would have to organize a poll and see what members would be interested in pursuing this venture. Just out of curiosity, I will begin a poll now on general discussion.

I'm sort of central to the Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan area and don't mind driving 3 or 4 hours if I have really good directions. If I could just get over the bout of social anxiety I'm having . . .

Hi Zonder. I am in your general region of the country. I am in southern Ohio. If people could manage like 3-4 hour drives, that would encompass large regional areas---if several group gatherings could be arranged. Now for those in other countries, I don't know how to manage that. There is one friend I have on here from Norway. As was mentioned earlier by Acacia, it would be nice to see a geographical representation of us.

As for social anxiety---you wouldn't be alone. And I think most everyone would understand our social awkwardness since that is a signature trademark in us.
