My handed-ness is a secret to me mostly.
That's one people react freaked out to.
I assume that is because handedness is something most people think you know naturally.
Raised to use my right-hands because of no preference but can do each task that does not need to be learnt as well with my left hand and take as long with my left hand to learn these tasks as with my right hand.
I also write wonderfully with my left hand and a left-hand pen.
I now prefer that, because my writing is nicer and better looking to me, though unreadable to others (whereas my writing with my right hand is liked by others and easy to read for them, but unreadable to me).
I'm sure you know it, but AMBIDEXTROUS literally means roughly equal DEXTERITY(ability) with BOTH. AMBI meaning both, and dextrous referring to dexterity. And you described being ambidextrous. In fact, you pretty much said you have the same experience that I do. I was taught to use my right hand, and do, but can pretty much use my left as well. In many cases, I may use either hand. On gattica, there is a scene where a doctor tells the protagonist that he could tell the person was otherhanded because of how he did something. With me, may do it with one hand, the other, or both. Go figure...
For the record, my mother was ambidextrous and favored her left. I believe my father is right handed. I don't know if he considers himself ambidextrous.
