Whilst these words don't really stay in my head often, I have found the following humourous:

hoot
sushi
onion
gazebo
onomatopoeia
groat
baboon (babouin)

As for quail..... no thanks, reminds me of a former vice president I couldn't stand, Dan Quayle.

As for maverick, everytime I hear that word Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin come to mind.

Riparian is nice, reminds me of an episode of Keeping Up Appearances where Hyacinth invited her family and friends to a riparian picnic. Of course, it turned out to be a complete shambles!

I am rather partial to onomatopoeia myself.

Very funny episode. I was appalled at first that the show would appropriate "my" word, but I forgave them because it was so funny. However your reaction is quite typical and I rarely talk about my relationship to the word because I have to undo the damage of it having become a Hyacinthism.

Some are....
Dunno (lol! )
Zip
Zipper
Zoom
Boom
Squee
Whee
(Insert various choice swear words here)
Xemnas
Buttsex (....Don't ask.).

And various made up things and/or certain noises.
Fwee
Swa
Neeeeeeeeee
ect, ect, ect

Also, sign me up for the onomatopoeia bandwagon.

A late NT friend used to use the phases "uh huh" and Oh boy" quite frequently. It about drove me crazy. I finally mentioned it to him off hand. He didn't even realise how much he used them until I brought it to his attention. He did make an effort to not use them so much.

The words "sneeze" and "foolscap" are funny.
I also like the word "hiccups", it sounds like "hickies".
