yep, I went to my senior prom only b/c I had a date. I was told by some very Bit$%y NT females the year prior that I shouldnt go my jr year because I didnt have a date, and they didnt think I would have a date. I went to four more proms after I graduated. (All my aquaintances were younger than I) I was asked to a fifth but I was teaching school by that time in another school dist, and thought it unwise to attend a prom someplace. (that guy still hassles me). It wasnt that I was pretty or even popular, these guys all knew I had a dress and "cleaned up good". One was gay and wanted a date for show. That was okay, I didnt mind because there was NO expectations and I had a blast. Although Im not a social bug, I LOVE formals. I find it easier to pretend to fit in in those settings.

I went in my junior year because I was on the prom committee. It was at a different location than originally planned because the hotel screwed up but most seniors understood that it wasn't the committee's fault, except for an ex who was always an arrogant jerk.

I didn't go to my senior prom, but the following year, I went to my best friend's prom. I had a good time at his prom even though I didn't know anyone as he went to a different high school, while he seemed bored. We were only going as friends, but I got the idea that he was only there because his family made him go. If it were up to him, he would have skipped that event, he's Aspie as I am, although I wasn't diagnosed until relatively recently.

One thing I did go to my senior year was Grad Night, which was held after graduation on-campus to keep us from drinking. That was a lot of fun, and I still have a video of the event that we got with the price of the ticket. It lasted the whole night, complete with a casino where we gambled with fake money, and it had a pirate theme.

Yes, I did go to my prom, and I enjoyed it. However, my date is one of those people who I have lost touch with because she has been so busy. That is very unfortunate!
