Thank you skibum for the thoughtful reply, your story is encouraging. And you're right, I do find it fascinating and even though I don't identify with a majority of the traits I do relate to a lot of the social ones because I am introverted and have anxiety. Its very interesting how lots of traits seem to overlap.
This would be a great way to break it in to your husband. Share the traits you have and how you relate to them as you are learning. See if he starts to open up and start a dialogue. My husband was eager to share how the traits related to him and even said, "Maybe I have Asperger's." I don't think my husband has it because I don't think he meets all the required diagnostic criteria but it is possible since I am not a diagnostician, I would not be able to tell completely with him. But I think for sure, my husband has something even if it's BAP. But sharing how you relate to the traits and symptoms might get your husband talking about the subject. And if he gets interested in learning and researching, particularly if he is Autistic, he will see it in himself.
