Sneeze and cough if you have a cold, when you are sitting right next to the person.
Sneeze and cough if you are sitting a few seats away from the person (or maybe i'm just a germaphobe)

Tell them "Don't you know Aspergers doesn't exist anymore?". "I told you 5 years ago Aspergers was an excuse, not a real disease" "I hope in the DSM 6 they they rediagnose all High Functioning Autistics as Münchausen syndrome"

1. Insulting us and then saying; "can't you take a joke"?
2. Not returning our phone messages after we went through the whole experience of talking to a fake version of you.
3. Asking for a preference, and then being told; "I don't really care - surprise me".
4. Being told; "no, it's only/just you" when we try to share an experience (hence why we don't).
5. Others equating our limited interests with "bad habits".
6. Having friends/family members who say; "talk to me when they've found a cure for whatever it is you have got".
7. Using the terminology "having a hissy fit" to describe us when we overstimulate.
8. Saying "I don't need to be a shrink to tell you there's nothing wrong with you" (usually said before or after #6 to confuse us even further).
9. Calling the condition "assburgers syndrome" then laughing uproariously (as if it's the very first time we've heard it) *sigh*
10. Saying "shouldn't you have grown out of it by now? I thought only little kids got that".

There's my top 10 that elicits some form of expletive from me.

This thread is huge, so I apologize if any of this was brought up before.

⦿ "Why do you always have to look so serious?"
I'm terribly sorry, but this is my default expression.

⦿ "Why are you so angry?"
I'm usually not. Sometimes I feel like people think being angry is a requirement for having a debate.

⦿ Initiating intense physical contact out of the blue, despite it having made the person visibly uncomfortable in the past
Yeah, boys like to wrestle. Guess it's a bonding thing.

⦿ Refusing to drop the debate, even though it's already become clear you're talking out of your hiney
I have a few friends who like to argue for the sake of arguing. Nothing wrong with that; they usually admit it once they notice I'm really getting into it. However, I do not like having people yell at me, dead-seriously and continously, over a subject they obviously don't have the vaguest clue about. Let's talk when you don't want to only seem knowledgeable.

Work with them and got out of your way to exclude them

When you notice they're upset about the above, invite them to hang out once, say "see we include you" and then go back to doing the above.

This is such a big thread that I couldn't read it all, so sorry for not numbering, and I apologize if these have been covered already.

Saying something other than what you mean and expecting me to be able to understand your nonverbal, subtle hints. Sorry but I don't do subtlety. You have to use that thing God gave you called a voice.

Not coming to me directly and talking to me if I have upset you, but rather, just avoiding me, or even worse, talking to my mom about it. Excuse me, I'm 28 years old. You can deal with me as such.

Deliberately using words that trigger my bizarre form of audio/tactile synesthesia in a bad way, or mispronouncing words that trigger it in a good way to mess with me. I try not to correct people if they use one of these words, as unfortunately some of the words are pretty common and can't be avoided, but if you know me and I have told you that it bothers me when you say this word, and you do it anyway, that is annoying. To clarify, my special interest, or one of them anyway, is plushies (teddy bears, etc.) If I hear someone use the term stuffed animals, I get a bad trigger and it feels like my guts are crawling *shudder*. My mom has a horrible habit of using that infernal phrase when speaking to me about my plushies. I'm like, dude, you know it gives me a bad trigger, so why in the name of all things sacred do you keep using it insistently? I understand that you can slip up, as unfortunately it's a common expression and people use it without thinking, but she doesn't even try, and usually when she says it she is in a bad mood so it is wise not to correct her.

Deliver their internet shopping on the wrong day.

When this results in them being out at work, don't leave parcel in porch as generally agreed, but leave it with a neighbour.

And not just any neighbour, but the one who lives in a house down a steep flight of steps.

So AS person who is proud of never having spoken to a neighbour, but is also a wheelchair user, can't possibly collect parcel.

Refuse to answer any emails about the matter

Tell them to quit obsessing about things, especially their special interests.

Having finished reading all 43 pages of this thread I finally feel qualified to post.
Unfortunately after reading 43 pages of this, I no longer feel like adding to it with a list of things I find annoying so instead I'm going to make a post that I have no doubt some other people will find annoying (therefore still being on-topic... almost).

It is tempting to create a list of distinct annoyances, and then tally the number of people who re-posted and those who posted the opposite as an annoyance. It seems we think very highly of non-ASD people when we expect them to somehow know all of these things and act accordingly (while simultaneously thinking very little of everyone who does something annoying, assuming that it was done intentionally to annoy us).

Maybe also add a tally of how many times any of us have done one of the things explicitly described as annoying. I think anywhere in the list that it says "NT" it should say "person". I have personally done a lot of the items from this list, and some of the specific examples almost feel like they could be describing my incidents, without intending any harm (or even being aware of any harm).

Without naming people specifically, I am also alarmed about the amount of posts that seem to justify, encourage or glorify particularly bad reactions to things which I read as honest mistakes by people who may think differently. Bad reactions being violence, self-medication, etc.

These are just my feelings from reading the list. We expect people to put themselves in our shoes but then act like we don't need to, or that it is impossible for us to put ourselves in their shoes?

I guess I did have an item to add to the list after all? I don't want to derail the thread so any off-topic responses to my rant can be sent directly to me as private messages.
