...and I have *never* been able to understand how *anyone* could drink raw egg white, such as in protein or body building mixes. It's the grossest thing. Not only is it jelly-ish and slimy, but it has those stringy, cordy bits in it. If you ever needed a stomach pump you could instead just bring a raw egg white near to your mouth - you'd be guaranteed to vomit (well I would) before it even went in.

bananas (slimy texture, especially if it's a mushy one)
sliced tomatoes (probably the worst)

I can get away with both foods, if the tomatoes are in a spaghetti sauce and they're chopped down further, and if the banana is blended up.

Canned peas. Yuck. Doubly so if they're mushy. Frozen instead please.

And after nearly choking on really fatty corned beef when I was 16, I will never in my life eat it again.

I hate squash. If it has mushiness to it, what's it worth if I can't even stand the boring taste of it?

And stewed spinach. So much better fresh than that muck that flosses your teeth (thereby leaving you with the nasty taste between your teeth until you scrub it out)

I also hate mushy bread. I always toast my bread as a result. It always seems like everyone's on this obsessive mission to pump our breads chock full of gluten so when you whip a piece of bread around it stays intact like some scurry mutant monster.

I hate steak. It bothers my tmj and it makes me gag every time I come across a "steak pill" of chewiness.

Homemade Jello--it always has this mixed texture to it that's almost plastic-like. It's disgusting!

Scrambled Eggs, when they are overcooked--as a kid I would not eat scrambled eggs at all, but I relaxed this rule when my grandmother taught me a trick to smooth out the texture with milk.

Pills--I will NOT swallow large pills whole. It's childish, but if they're Mucinex-large, I'll gag them up every time!

Gyro meat--I don't really understand this one, only that it tastes sort of fake to me, and it's the one thing preventing me from eating gyros like the "normal" people do.

Mayo--in large quantities I will gag. The texture and smell is just too much.

Oh yes. There are textures that I just cannot stomach....

First and foremost is wet bread. Not wet with mayo or butter -- that's fine -- but wet with water or soup. The worst example is French Onion Soup. I love the soup but who decided that a blob of bread with melted cheese on it in the middle of the bowl soaking was a good idea. Pie crust can be bad too -- I love it when it's crunchy, but once it's been sitting around iin the fridge and gets that condensation in the pan -- forget it.

Which brings me to another one -- "rubbery". Everybody seems to love stretchy mozzarella on their pizzas or that "string cheese" stuff. Both make me gag. I love pizza and a little bit of cheese is fine, as long as the pizza is right out of the oven and the cheese is really melty. But as soon as it starts getting cold, I can't eat it anymore. When I make homemade pizza for myself, I use parmesan instead of mozzarella.

"Gristle-y" is bad too -- I don't mind eating meat -- although I seem to be drifting away from it as I get older -- but if I get some tough piece that is all tendon-y, I'll choke on it. Not choke on it as asphyxiation, but choke with just the feel of it in my mouth. It seems to actually get BIGGER the longer you chew it!

What meat I DO eat has to be cooked well. If I can taste even a teeny little bit of undercooked meat, I won't eat the rest of it. Ditto for finding hair in my food -- even my own. ONE hair is enough to turn me off a whole dish of food -- maybe even a whole pot of food.

"Fatty" is nasty. If it's cooked HARD, as in the edges of a pork chop or bacon, I can handle it. But just a big hunk of fat, like you might find on a brisket, is disgusting. And anything that SEEMS fatty is gross too -- a piece of French toast that isn't cooked on the edges wil gag me.

Some slick/slimy I can handle -- I LOVE okra, although I prefer itr well-cooked to get rid of the slime. Some I can't -- overly ripe fruit, oysters, raw tomatoes, cooked yellow squash (zucchini is firmer so I don't have a problem with it,), fried eggplant.

Some textures I do like -- I LOVE fried or baked crunchy stuff -- crackers, fried food crusts, snack chips, pizza crust. And I like sweet creamy stuff -- puddings, ice cream, peanut butter, whipped cream, creamy candy centers, and liquidy cheese dishes -- mac 'n cheese, fondue, queso.

Now that you mention it...I can't stand chewing on seed's. Like strawberry seed's. If I slice them up thin enough it doesn't bother me though.

Like the OP, I also can't stand slimy vegetables: I can't do tomatoes unless they are chopped up fine or in a sauce, and I can't do cucumbers unless they're in sushi so I can't feel the crunch as much. Pickles are just gross, and always have been to me. Watery iceberg lettuce is also not my thing: I can only eat salads with green/dark leaves.

I also find meat of all varieties is gross...which is part of the reason why I'm veggie.

I can't stand mushy textures which aren't meant to be like that, so bread is a problem if it's in my mouth for too long or if a sandwhich has been sat for ages getting soggy, as is cereal which has gone soggy, bananas which aren't nearly green.

I also get really anxious about certain foods touching. A colleague of mine was eating cold beans, sweetcorn, cheese and rice cakes the other day, all one plate. I very nearly threw up just looking at him at it. Baked beans touching vegetables is a no-go. I also can't touch things like baked beans or tomato ketchup when it's gone cold or been left on a plate. Touching washing up water when plates have been soaking makes me gag.

This reminded me of something that totally grosses me out -- my mother LOVES peanut butter and banana sandwiches. But she doesn't just slice the bananas over the PB. She mixes it all up together in a bowl. It always seems like it's my turn to do dishes on a day she's done that. The smell of the PB and the bananas in the hot soapy water makes me wanna puke.

I really had issues with the tomato "chunks" found in the Paul Newman brand of tomato sauces when I was a kid...I'd try to eat them and they would literally almost make me throw up as I tried to get them down. My mom and stepdad thought I was just being disobedient and unappreciative when I would tell them about this, so I'd just tough it out and eat them as fast as I could without having to "feel" them in my mouth too much. Tomato chunks are easier for me to eat now (especially if I can eat them in the same bite as some spaghetti, or scoop them up on a slice of bread), but are still hard for me to swallow if I eat them by themselves.

I also can't stand grilled cheese sandwiches and processed lunch meats. But other than that, I eat a pretty wide variety of foods.

I won't eat mushrooms because they're slimy, Ironically I like cream of mushroom soup (because no mushrooms, just the taste) and I'm learning to deal with eating tinned fish, but only in pasta, any other time, I can't deal with it. Also, on the line of food and sensory issues, I will not go near parmesan cheese, I personally think it smells like sick.

I like crunchy food and food with fibrous textures like tomatoes. I don't like seafood or meat with a bone in it because the entire time I'm trying to eat it all I can see in my mind is what the animal used to look like, and sometimes with bones I can't stop envisioning roadkill.

Slimy stuff is gross too. I don't like fried squash unless it's fried crispy. Mushrooms are absolutely disgusting.

Grapes, Pickles, Tomatoes, and sometimes Squash - gooey slimy
Mushrooms, Shrimp - rubbery

I won't even look at oysters, but I can just about guarantee that I won't like it.

I cant stand anything mushy, sauces, or things that squirt when you bite them like tomatoes. But i love bubbly things or carbonated which causes the problem of only wanting to drink soda since i love the feeling.

When I was little the only thing I actually liked was noodles with a little butter and salt. Now, I like a lot more types of food, but I still don't like onions, mushrooms, raisins, cooked tomatoes and other things that are slimy, and anything that disrupts the texture of a food with a different texture, similar to other people. When I was little my mom would purée my portion of any soups or sauce she made so that it would be smooth all the way through, then I could eat it in small amounts. Otherwise, gross!

Many things. I can only eat certain combinations of taste and textures. The rest is either just a few bites then I won't touch the food or not at all, especially if I gag on it as soon as my tongue touches it or as soon as I bite it.

Sense of taste is the only basic sense I have no defences nor high threshold. Always been a picky eater.

So many things that my diet is severely restricted to things that are 'okay' and things that are 'not okay'. It isn't even about taste, it's the texture.
