Ever since I was a little kid I was attracted to loner lifestyles.

My favourite loner/wanderer movies:

1. The good, the bad and the ugly.
2. A fistfull of dollars.
3. For a few dollars more.
4. Two-moon Junction.

No. I've always been a homebody, perfectly content to stay in one place. I would have never moved out of my childhood home if I had had the choice.

However, one of my childhood heroes was a wandering samurai named Kenshin Himura, protagonist of the anime/manga series Rurouni Kenshin.

That lifestyle doesn't attract me. I'd rather stay where I am, until my dying days. I like it where I live in the city, and I will die in my city dwelling at an old age. If I were to wander continually, i'd have to deal with changes, every time. I wouldn't shy away from that lifestyle, if I was able to adapt to changes.

I hope I didn't double post. I have a feeling that I've posted similar info in this thread, a while ago. Oh well.

Ex traveling musician/artist here. Don't do it. While I was making a small bit of money at my gigs I was barely breaking even. It was also a waste of time in the end. When I decided to use my SSI to become a traveling artist as opposed to pay rent I pretty much ruined my life. I had some amazing adventures and life-changing learning experiencing but I am currently 27 and this is all I have to show for a it. A life of constant traveling/living in horrible conditions in the name of artistic freedom.

This being said I will always be a wanderer at heart. Staying anywhere for too long is a nightmare. I need the excitement and adventure. I'm currently trying to make enough money to go back to the traveling lifestyle. I'd just like to do it in a more classy way than last time.

I like routine, but I have always classed myself as nomadic, I don't like being in one place for too long. I like living out of bags, I like a sense of not belonging. My dream is to live out of a van and go searching for waves to surf all over the world.

I know 27 year olds with nothing to show for it but day jobs they hate and dreams they never followed. No amazing adventures and no life changing learning experiences. Right now Im doing nothin but dying so Id rather change that a bit

How did you ruin your life and what would you change if you do it again?

A wanderer does not have to be sad or be unshaven...

Beware of overreacting. You're 27 and you're talking about your life being "ruined"? Wait until you're 67 to make such assessments.

I'm one of them and I'm certainly not sad. I am unshaven, however ...

I'm not saying this to upset anyone or to say someone is wrong. We are all individuals who have different experiences. Just because one person has had a positive or negative experience doesn't mean everyone else will. We all have different values as well. The older I get the less value I place on unnecessary material possessions and my priorities have changed too. Not everyone is going to feel the same way as I do and that's okay. But I believe, it is important to share experiences with each other so that we can maybe learn something and be aware of possibilities.

What is in a name topic

What is the meaning of your user name? Seems new age. Interesting...

At any rate, I used to live a nomadic lifestyle many years ago, but now live minimalist, with a very few collections, no hoarding. 8)

I like exploring, the idea appeals (I want to travel across Europe and visit Africa and Asia when I am older) and, I have recently attained a great desire to go mountain climbing, inspired by Nietzsche. I frequently wander around my large yard, and I like to explore in video games.

It does not help that in my life, I have never traveled outside of New Zealand and only been to the South Island once...

I love to wander and explore places. When ever I'm mad/sad I go out into the woods.
