I wear headphones quite often. I don't typically like earbuds, but have found the "marshmallow" ones quite comfortable. Some music helps cover up weird noises, and in some situations, helps me from entering people's conversations when not wanted. (I'm told I do this regularly. My thought is, don't talk so loud that I can hear you from across the room. My acute hearing probably doesn't help with that, though...)

I wear sunglasses often, always having a pair on me and a spare pair in the car, and a baseball cap. I can't sleep without an eye mask even when I sleep at night (half the time I work night shifts, the other half day shifts). I listen to white noise and music alot as it helps with my tinnitus. Music also helps me keep calm and focussed when working on a task, I hate most tastes, only eating bland foods like bread, chicken and potato. Extremely sensitive to textures too, in food and clothing especially.

I don't have terrible sensory sensitivity, but when I was younger I did wear earplugs, but only at night since my family snores...probably not the answer you were looking for :P And yes, I do wear sunglasses, but usually only outside, on a sunny day.. I'd wear them inside as well if I wasn't afraid of that looking strange. And for some reason when I was younger I used to find travelling on airplanes absolutely horrible and wear earplugs then, but this was all when I was a child and I seem to have grown out of all this to an extent.

Yes to both. I also have ear defenders I used to use in addition to earplugs, but they're too hot & uncomfortable to wear for long so I switched to earplugs + over ear headphones with MP3 player.

That was an 'interesting' conversation with some burly guys in the workwear shop as to why I wanted the ear defenders they normally sell to pneumatic drill users. Good job I didn't give a flying cheesy triangle about their unhelpful alternative suggestions (yes I have heard of earplugs thankyou, no it isn't something I will just 'learn to live with', just sell me the darn ear protectors- i'm not trying to buy plutonium or a skipload of pandas here...!) :)

I wear earplugs and a sleep mask so I can sleep at night. I am a very, very light sleeper. During the sunny seasons, I have to wear sunglasses even on cloudy days, because my eyes are very, very, very light sensitive, and I am effectively blind on bright days. On the other hand, I can see very good with little light.

If I do not have dark sunglasses - sunny or cloudy - I am in extreme pain, if not completely unable to open my eyes. I almost did not pass my initial scuba certification because every time we surfaced I was blinded. I have wondered if I can get a prescription mask that acts like those sunglasses they make, that darken when exposed to light. That would make my life so much easier. I'll wear sunglasses before the sun is completely risen, and after it has set. If there is any light in the sky (other than stars), I need my sunglasses. I have even worn them sometimes at night while driving in traffic because the headlights - especially those stupid LED blue/white headlights - hurt like hell. Stoplights hurt my eyes day or night, and neon is a pain. The only thing that does not bother me - in fact I rather like, and find soothing - are red/blue police lights. Love those. I think it has something to do with the rythmic flashing, and the little clicky noise that they make. Does not hurt at all, either.

Not only do I need them physically, I have come to use them as a "shield" against people. I just feel safer with them on. People cannot force me into eye contact, and I can observe whatever I want unobtrusively. Sunglasses make my life SO much easier - I have pairs everywhere, just in case (learned my lesson the hard way after being blinded at the beach, when I lost them in a wave.) In my beach bag, in my scuba bag, in my car, in my purse, at the stable, at home, in drawers......everywhere, sunglasses lol

Noises bother me sometimes - I have been told I'm annoying to watch movies with because I find some parts of movies louder than others, and if allowed control of the remote, will constantly be turning the volume up and down as fits my comfort level. If I can't control the volume, I'll cover my ears on and off as needed.

One thing that realllllly drives me nuts - and hurts - is that TDD squeal/squelch sound for the hearing impaired. That sound makes me feel like I'm going to start bleeding from the eyes and ears.

My vision is horrible enough to warrant me wearing them 100% of the time I'm awake. Last time I bought glasses, I picked up a pair of lenses with a 50% grey tint, and will never go back. I no longer get migraines, and it takes a lot more to get me over stimulated. I still have to avoid strobes tho.

As a child I dealt with it by destroying the object or thing that was driving me crazy. Quite problematic indeed when a kid finds a chair in his way and is so upset by it that he throws it out of the window...

When I was in high school, I found that in-ear headphones were phenomenal for blocking the pitch out of everything while still letting me hear everything, so I could listen and sit in noisy classrooms and not deal with headaches. Most of the time, my teachers didn't even both bringing it up, because when they would, I would lift the jack and show them that the headphones weren't connected to anything, so they would just think I was weird. I still wear them often, but for the most part, only high-pitched noises and coughing affects me anymore.

Sunglasses, on the other hand, are something that from middle school to present day, I never leave home without. I got in trouble and mocked quite a bit on days that I had to wear them in class on days that the fluorescent lights got particularly straining on my eyesight and caused migraines. I can deal with indoor lighting better now, but I still can't step foot outside for more than a few seconds without sunglasses, or I feel like my eyes are catching on fire. Even on cloudy days, I have to wear them, though the pain is a lot less intense on those occasions. I even sometimes wear them when at my computer, which I have to keep bright often for my design work.

As for sensory issues besides that, I have hearing pitch-sensitive enough to hear electricity being turned on (which means any high pitch can feel like a knife dragging against my brain), an extreme sensitivity to heat, and an incredibly sensitive sense of taste that greatly limits what I eat.

I'm going to starting to wear earplugs because little sounds irritate my ears and loud sounds spook me and little kids screaming and loud firecrackers and fireworks hurt my ears plus yelling and and too much chitchat push me over the edge.

I wear sunglasses during most of spring, summer, fall and sunny days in the winter or at least have them on me

I do wear earphones when I go out, and most of the time I listen to podcasts like this one while I travel (hyperlink in the text( It is not for everyone and the aggressive brother of hardstyle for those not familiar with the term hardcore in electronic music)), which is also the music that I perform best under when doing stressful tasks, it is as if it blocks everything else out, and because my head is just as chaotic as this music, in the sense that I think a lot and really fast, it seems to have a tranquilizing effect, as is 2 extremes create a perfect harmony.

Prefer sunglasses when outside. Dark room with limited light. If I have windows, which I don't mind having, I keep the blinds closed to block excess light. At work, I applied "cling" tint to the windows to block out light from the south-facing windows.

My current pair of glasses are heavily tinted. I was told that I wouldn't be able to see through them. I can see through them fine.

Can't sleep at night without ear plugs. Can still hear relatively well even with ear plugs. :x

I wear tinted glasses, carry ear plugs and ear muffs with me (and use them as needed), have both noise canceling headphones and noise isolating earbuds too.
