That's seriously specific  What about all those great dances from 1782? :o

Anyway, I'm fairly certain I do an impressive dutty whine/bangra mash-up in my bedroom, but elsewhere...nu-uh.

Exactly. Huge delay between brain and limbs. I can dance with my arms while moving my hips slightly, but no one is ever happy with that... you're supposed to move your feet WHILE moving your arms... yeesh

My boyfriend and I are learning to waltz, but mainly for the hilarity. :P (He's 6'3, I'm 5'1 and we're both dyspraxic - basically really clumsy.)

I guess I am the oddball here because I can dance and enjoy it, and I'm a guy. I like dance music, hip-hop, and electronic so that definitely helps.

I started by dancing alone for fun in my room. Losing yourself in music is very relaxing. After you do that, it becomes much much easier to do in clubs after a couple drinks if it's dark/crowded enough not to feel self-conscious.

I have no sense of rhythm whatsoever. When I play an instrument (I've learned to play the trombone) I feel that I can't concentrate on both remembering the tune and playing it on the instrument. Something similar impedes me when it comes to dancing. My limbs don't do what my mind tells them and also it's hard to remember the sequence of movements. So I don't dance, even at home when I'm alone.

My SI was classical ballet for almost 20 years, but I was attracted by the lines and the repetitive movements and the structure and being highly musical as well.
I entered a professional ballet academie after 2 years working mostly autodidactic, but had to leave the academy after two years due to motorical issues (coordination) and because I could not talk to the teaching stuff (mutism when I had to talk to someone) and anorexia. I repeated it in two academies. Then I was alone in a studio for almost 10 years repeating repeating repeating the exercises with one professional training a day and I was allowed to join training in a Royal Ballet for 3 years (not payed).
I did some choreography, but I have difficulties with coordination so I did mostly repetitive movements that I could control.
I could never pick up choreography when it was not in the style of classical ballet, as everything has got a name in this technique and it has a very logical and systematically buildup (it is like a repetitive pattern).
I had "good lines", which means I could lift my legs high etc. but difficulties connecting movements even after 20 years.
In classical ballet you repeat the same movements each day again and the whole technique is written down in one single book.
I cannot dance "freestyle" and do not know, what to do and "freeze".

I went to almost every dance in junior high, but I never danced. Not sure why I even bothered.

I used to dance all the time as a little girl. I took three dance classes when I was about 5-7 years old.

No and and I dislike it strongly. In high school throughout the month of December, we had to have to take part in big dances instead of the regular P.E. class. Most of the time I faked being sick because I didn't enjoy it and often felt rejection when someone had to dance with me.

When this video came out I decided dancing makes no damn sense and isn't for me. The best thing about getting kicked out of school in 10th grade is no prom. Years later, when I was trying to prove to myself that I was like everyone else, I ended up being a latin and ballroom instructor. I f*****g hated it but, I did meet a lot of women who didn't care about my personality  That only lasted a couple of years and I don't miss it at all. Was I good? Not really, but I wasn't bad. That was a long time ago. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out wtf I was thinking

I must ask.. :) Have you seen video of yourself dancing while being drunk? I ask because many think they are great at anything while drunk, but to other sober people around, it might not seem that way. I'm sorry if I burst some kinda bubble...

Aww, the memories. The first time I heard that song were in the movie "Biodome". I've heard it lots of times since then :) I always turn up the volume if I hear it on the radio.

Dancing saved me from talking and making others feel awkward.... I may of danced a little differently, but it help take away some of the ignorance.
