People tend to 'hate' intellectuals because an intellectual is more likely to perceive a lie or reveal someone else's ignorance.
For instance, someone once told me that there can be no DNA in our cells because DNA is acidic and acid dissolves flesh.
I pointed out to him that if that were the case, he would have no mouth or stomach because both saliva and stomach fluids are acidic.
He called me a spawn of Satan and has refused to speak to me ever since.
Good riddance.

Comfortably numb. Yeah, comfortably numb. I may be a bit warped in the humor department, as this should "make a grown man cry," but:
It's one thing to espouse something ignorant; but another if one has the motivation or the 'emotion' to not check their own belief systems. It must
feel good to these people to "prefer" to stand where they are.
My bone to pick is this: Why are these "people" incapable of a self- correction insofar as a
motivation to 'check' what they know and don't know? Why are their hearts unreceptive in this regard? A biological brother in the same set of circumstances, can make a
different choice.
My conclusion: One is past a certain sense here, as one idea is as good as the next one. There are no immediate consequences, and here is where
knowledge plays out: If one could plot a trajectory, then the sense of it should compel or propel them to move it on in a different direction.
Emotions are central to any value.
