Anyone else creeped out by the Alex Plank adds?

To what extent are you creeped out by the Alex Plank adds?
What Alex Plank adds? 37%  37%  [ 53 ]
not at all. Alex looks like a supermodella I like to gaze at. 16%  16%  [ 23 ]
a little bit, but it's not a big deal. 27%  27%  [ 39 ]

Or just type "Autism Rape Awareness" in the YT search bar. This individual claims that those on the spectrum are rapists/criminals in the making and that WP is the equivalent of Stormfront, a white supremacist site.

These videos are extremely offensive. The linking of "aspergians" and the holocaust was a disgusting use of propaganda. Fortunately the production value and silly music make them hard to take seriously.

I can only hope that th were done in a satirical manner, much like the "God Hates Goths" and Landover Baptist forum... I just wish the horrific slaughter of the English language and grammar would be rectified.

Never heard of it before. Followed that link but just got a page with some symbols on it. Other than that there doesn't appear to be anything there. Dead site.

Aspergia was an autism forum that closed a week or two after we started Wrong Planet.

Definitely true. A number of alternative sites have appeared over the years, but none of them have ever really taken off despite having good and more up to date forum software... they all fail for the same reason, they can't get enough members to make the sites interesting to participate on. It is a Catch 22 situation; lack of members means lack of interesting posts hence new members aren't attracted. WP is still the dominant site because it has a large membership and lots of momentum to keep it interesting.

Yes and also, as a veteran of discussion forums, you also have a very good moderation policy, that does not drive away people like myself who are good at moving threads along. I can get a stopped thread moving and post new ones. Any forum needs people like me but sometimes as we can be contentious in our views we can end up getting banned :(

People like me who have lots of thoughts and opinions are useful for forums but some people dont like us. We have a good role to play though! We are like those little fish that clean the bigger ones - we perform a useful function, keeping things moving along!

You're right. I see new forum sites popping up all the time. The problem is that they don't make an effort to grow their traffic and then end up giving up. Also, the other problem is that people don't have any reason to leave Wrong Planet.

I no longer post on any other website. WP is like a large sandbox - you can play just about any way you want, but throwing sand will get you in trouble. There is plenty of room for everybody.
