People who talk/put me down, generally with a negative attitude. Especially when they're good at arguing making it difficult for me to argue back.

Lol, "I agree to agree with the issue" - I have a dislike for this type of agreement eg 'This' and 'QFT' - why even bother with a one word post??

"Count me in with the gang" in other words - no explanation of why needed

Except that wasn't what we said, or the point of it.

But presumably you can appreciate that a whole thread of one-word agreement with one post is a bit tedious

How far is it meant to go? 20thed?

There's humour in there anyway, believe me

To me it just meant that the person's post was worded so well and powerfully that it resonated with a few of us. Not a big deal, to me. Sorry it offended you.

And actually the way it was reworded was offensive, to me. And you derailed the thread from "people we don't get along with" which to me, is worse.

I don't get along with...hypocrites.

It didn't offend me; I just question the validity of everyone lining up to second, third, fourth etc a post

I prefer it if a person qualifies their reasoning with saying a bit more about why exactly they agree, not just blind agreement, which strikes me as some kind of unspoken point being made

I discussed a point someone had made - that is not derailing, it's opening the debate out

I don't think the word 'Thirded' has any direct link to the original topic if you want to get pedantic about it

it takes things no further forward

OK fair enough.

To be fair, you didn't say why you disliked us agreeing, other than you disliked that it was with one word and happened more than once.

I disliked the accusation that we were all herd followers and only agreeing for its own sake. That's a bit like saying we are socially insecure liars.

So now we know how we both feel.

And if you wanted to know why we felt like that, only had to ask.

Well I thought things were cool but now you've posted again. And yes, we were actually on topic as we quoted what and why as to a type of person we don't get along well with.

I did not see your snarky post as opening debate. I saw it as a gratuitous insult while not on topic. Now you've called me pedantic as well. Okay, moving on. Tired of this.

I have no way of telling why you agreed with a one word post though so I'm going to form my own opinion

I don't see how calling someone a herd follower is a bit like saying they are a socially insecure liar either - being conformist
doesn't automatically go with being socially insecure or a liar in my opinion

Surely if you are conformist you are socially secure as you have the backup of all the other conformists

nessa, when you say that someone is only agreeing to agree, that means they don't really feel that way. When you say "might as well join the gang" that means they are socially insecure.

Both accusations mean the person in question is insincere, which is a form of lying.

No one said you had to understand our posts but to post insults about it is another choice you made, rather than asking why we did it in PM or something like that.

I'm not a conformist, and consider that in itself an insult. You haven't said if you even meant to insult the three (or four?) of us, rather are arguing semantics. To me your posts read as an attempt to insult and mock.

You clearly don't like one word replies or people who agree with something without a lengthier explanation. I clearly don't like people who take potshots with little provocation.

find it very hard to get along with people in general as they are rarely open to explaining their reasoning without geting upset about it

Questioning seems to be equated with insulting by most people whereas I see questioning as a method of clarifying ie getting nearer to the facts and the truth

I also dislike people who try to use 'the rules' to stifle debate

threads on WP often go hopelessly off-topic with nothing being said so the complete lack of consistency in the use of the off-topic accusation implies that it is used more as a means of shutting down debate, not as a matter of principle

How many threads on WP have diverted off into a discussion on weight training?! How much disagreement is there with it - hardly any

So accuse things of going off topic by all means but please do it with consistency

No, when someone agrees to agree it usually means they are in agreement but don't want to go into detail as to exactly why they agree, not that they think something different

"When you say "might as well join the gang" that means they are socially insecure."

With a statement like this you're implying that most NTs are socially insecure as they invariably want to 'join the gang' - it's their
essential nature

I don't think I've insulted anyone but you are twisting what I said to make out you've taken offence which is a common strategy
used on forums to silence dissent
