I remember being 10 (1965) and my dad forcing me to try to learn to ride a bike without training wheels! 8O I also remember him swearing and calling me a spaz! U rode for a while just to get him off my back but i doubt very much if i could do it now... oddly enough it is something I have been thinking about doing lately because i hate driving!

Without training wheels - about being 5 years old (maybe earlier, but rather no), certainly before 6th birthday. With training wheels even earlier, I do not remember when (maybe when I was about 4 years old, maybe even earlier). My siblings learned it later, probably, after sixth birtday. They are not diagnosed with any mental disorder and are 19,5 and 25,5 years old now. My brother had very good marks in physical education at the end of school years. I have never had very good mark (5 in Polish system, 1 is the worst, 6 is the best) at the end of the school year, I had mostly 3, more rarely 4 (one or two times).

Probably age 8 or 9 - I don't recall having a child-size frame. By 10 I was off exploring my area. In general, children are not expected to have good traffic sense before about age 11. Then, as I grew, nobody knew to raise my seat, so I was glad to leave it behind. I re-discovered bikes with proper adjustments about age 20, and am still riding most days, indoors now just for the exercise 'till spring.

Utter basics at age 4-5.
It was a small metal bike with a sidecar. It didn't lasts due to incidents.
From misinterpreted instructions to outright recklessness.

Until at age 9-10.
It was the first time I've owned and ridden a two-wheeled bike.
Second time I ever ridden a bike years after said incidents.

Erm - about 21

I was given a bike when I was about 7 and really struggled with it without the training wheels on. To be fair we didn't have a garden or yard where I could practice. My friends at the time soon got the hang of it and progressed to bikes with gears which were beyond me at the time and I gave up for years.

At age 21 I thought it would be nice to learn so I bought a bike and practiced with it in the countryside. I soon picked it up but I never felt comfortable on busy roads to be honest.

I haven't cycled for years and until last year my eyesight was pretty poor. I've had cataract surgery now though and I would quite like to cycle again - to get some weight off if nothing else. I've been looking for a new bike but they are hard to come by at the moment: either they haven't been delivered because of Covid, or everyone's buying them because of Covid or perhaps the shops are just waiting on this years' models to come in I don't know.

It was a slow transition from training wheels to being able to balance on just two wheels. Once the training wheels came off for good I continued to be wobbly for quite some time. I was 8 during that time.

I used training wheels until I was 10. I still have a hard time balancing so I don't ride them often.

About 5 or 6. I almost forgot how to do it though and was struggling to ride a bike last time. I guess the thing about "Its like learning to ride a bike" doesn't really work on me.
