The problem with curing LFA is that there would have to be cure for autism and some way to increase general cognitive ability of person. If only autism is cured, the person would still be ret*d, severely in some cases, also in some cases with lots of other symptoms like seizures and physical ailments associated with some genetic disorder.

I don't like that she seems to think 'talking' is the only possible way to communicate and anything else is inferior or implies they can't communicate. I mean what about non-verbal autistics using a device to type their thoughts on, or maybe some would do better with some sort of sign language or hand signals like people who can't talk for other reasons learn.

And this is exactly the kind of thinking that can be problematic...fixating on certain issues an autistic person has and getting the mindset they 'have' to learn to talk like a normal person' or its useless for instance. I don't see anything wrong with alternate approaches and work arounds for certain autism traits.

Also a severly disabled LFA who bangs their head to the point of possibly harming them-self...well a goal could be to stop the head banging and maybe help direct them to safer ways to stim/let out frusteration. Instead some seem to go to the extreme of thinking 'curing' the autism is the 'only' way they can possibly be saved from that behavior. It is just a very doomful way of thinking especially since as of yet there is no cure and in fact they aren't even close to one, hell they aren't even entirely clear on what exactly autism even is. So then it seems a lot of LFAs might be given up on/left to stagnate...since 'they cant improve whatsoever without a cure' according to some.
