Sometimes, they can be piquant and "to the point," and can get your ideas across better than an extended monologue

as you can see metaphors are like grains of rice that resemble 1959 model Cadillacs to me.

Exactly!

Metaphors are about as useful as a screen door on a submarine!

figuring out metaphors is like being a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs!

Thats why I avoid using metaphors LIKE THE PLAGUE!! ! ! !

These are all similes, not metaphors.

Only because of the presence of the word "like."

A metaphor is more "exact" than a simile.

it may be necessary to point out the fact that you were referring to natural plastic's response to mine rather than my initiating post. if you were referring to my post then you are about as correct as a freight train driven by the pope.
as correct as an ostrich with a bung foot in a fast food restaurant would be if it was replying to a question posed by an impatient checkout operator who had no appreciation of gregorian chants

Unless, of course, the checkout operator used to be a monk, and really enjoyed his time in the choir.

Meant to comment of this earlier...
Yep...LIS...one of the silliest, but most stupidly fun shows ever. But, the Jupiter2 and B9 are really amongst my favourite designs ever. Best danged flying saucer out there IMO.

It was a good, entertaining show.

It was actually a bit better in its first year, when it was in black and white.

unfortunately i can not make sense of your post. your senseless description of my lucid metaphor is to me like seeing a frenzied baboon in the act of trying to pry off the lid of a frozen shut garbage bin in alaska between the months of may and august. it just does not make any sense at all.
kind of like the reasoning that a moth that is almost dead on the windowsill of an abandoned car in the east end of new york may entertain.

Nah....I wouldn't be entertained by that moth.

The baboon? Maybe.

Yep, I have the first year on disk. They were trying to do some sort of Sci-Fi then, but Dr. Smith took over as popular character and they tried to compete with Batman and the camp factor. I did love the third season theme though. Back when he was only "Johnny Williams". That and the second season theme for "Land of the Giants". If you want to hear a cool remix of the LIS theme (Third year) check this out:

It was done for the movie in the late 90's but it's still a cool remix of John Williams theme.

Sorry, just realized that my Special Interest is kicking in.

Not sorry enough to redact and move on though, so.........LOL

Sending the link (I'm aware, of course, that it's intended for everybody to see).

all is well then.
but i must advise that i was talking not about the moth being entertaining, but the ideas that the moth may entertain. like tulip seed are never found in the gas tanks of c47 military aircraft...you get the idea.
