The other day i smoked a cigarette and it made me really sweaty and nauseous and i have no idea how people like that feeling. Its a disgusting feeling. It was a clove cigarette, too. I remember smoking a menthol and it was a swimmy feeling, to say the least. Different smokes for different folks, i guess. Lol. But seriously, i have only allowed myself a cigarette here and there when I'm not stressed out. If you use it as a way to cope, it could be addicting. Otherwise, it's not a very pleasant feeling....i will just stick to pot, and only rarely. Used to smoke pot wayyyyyyy too much for my own good. It changed me. I was living with a pot head who encouraged it regularly though....hmmm...and then he would call me stupid....i think it was the weed that made me stupid. I stopped smoking weed and now i can think clearly.

money is too hard for me to come by, to send it wafting up in smoke. that said, i wonder what is the problem with just taking the nicotine sans tobacco, aside from patches for quitters why not make the nicotine available by itself?

I can't stand smoking. My boyfriend smokes, and it is causing problems because his brother has lung cancer (he is not a smoker), and my boyfriend can happily smoke cigarettes that warn about lung cancer on the front of the box.

But my boyfriend keeps suffering with shortness of breath and chesty cough, which comes and goes. But it's a waste of time him going to see the doctor because when he does they just say it's caused by smoking too much and that he needs to give up. But he can't give up. He gets frightened when he can't breathe, but yet still continues to smoke. He even bought a pack of cigarettes during one of his breathing attacks.

I don't get it. He won't give up obviously because he can't cope with the withdrawal symptoms, but increasing the risk of getting cancer and dying in agony is far worse than withdrawal symptoms. It's sad how much nicotine has such an effect on the brain. It's like a disease. Not only is it a danger to his health, it's also a danger to mine, as he smokes near me no matter how many times I tell him not to. :(

Smoking just takes over his life. It controls him. It's no longer a choice of his, because it rules him. I hate it. I hate the idea of smoking. I suffer with anxiety problems and prone to panic attacks, but I don't smoke to deal with it. Smoking just adds to it, especially when you start to develop a smoker's cough and other health problems due to smoking.

No problem. You can get nicotine in various forms. I stopped smoking some years back but I still use nicotine lozenges. They aren't as nice as smoking, but they're good enough and they don't kill. There's also nicotine gum, the patches you mentioned, and e cigarettes. But you can't eat or drink nicotine, since it will give you an upset stomach.

I just read a paper that said that autistic people have a shortage of nicotine receptors. Perhaps that's why it's so necessary for me.

Pot smoke smells even worse than tobacco smoke. It makes everything smell like one big litter box. I don't see the attraction. I think smoking pot would be like eating out of the cat box.

I hate the smell of weed too and it clings to everything - I think people vape that one too and you can flavour your juices to smell like whatever you want.

Vaping is equally stupid. At the very least, you could burn your lips. That would be incredibly painful.

All I can say as someone very familiar with various devices is that to burn your lips or having your e-cig explode you must be very stupid and not understand how it works/respect safety regulations - which I imagine a lot of people are guilty of.

I struggled for years with this addiction and I'm very grateful to have found something that weaned me off for good :)

That depends. You may get dizzy and feel a bit euphoric, and a wash of pleasure. Or if you have a low tolerance or ingest too much, you can get nauseous. So different people respond different ways and it all changes as you gain experience and develop a tolerance, which happens very rapidly. Apparently the people who feel a wave of relaxation the first time they have a cigarette are almost guaranteed to become smokers.

I'm not "smug" because I don't smoke.

5% ??? That's all?
It was the money for me. And suddenly the time had come to stop, so I did. Decades ago.
Why did I start? Hope of 'belonging' - in the 70s, most everybody smoked. Didn't work.
