You can talk to yourself or imaginary friends. That's what I do.

My logical understanding of this thing called religion is that that's what the religious are already doing...
When they pray, they are talking to themselves and their imaginary friend(s).

Oh, right...I was going to quote someone else that said they were atheist, but maybe Satanist....
How can you be both?
If you are a Satanist, you would believe in a hell of some sort, which in turn means that you would have to believe in it's counterpart, Heaven.
Which makes you full on religious.

I'm Catholic and always have been. Church is often the only place that where my brain will be quiet for awhile. And I'm sure that the repetition of service helps me feel grounded. ^__^

I'm an atheist. I consider religion unnecessary. The application of logic and science got us this far in understanding ourselves and our place in the universe. Nature is enough. But religion works for most people and has for thousands of years. I have no right to rain on some else's parade, and I am grateful when they don't rain on mine. I avoid discussing religion with those who are devout believers. Out of respect.

In real life, I'm the same way. If they can believe, then good for them! The only thing that annoys me about most of the believers I have met is that they don't generally have a respect for my belief to not be religious. They feel like it's their purpose in life to make everyone believe the same things that they do. I suddenly feel comatose when I hear their convoluted logic, although usually there is no logic at all, just a declaration of the ever elusive "faith." Well, it's elusive to me, anyway.

I believe in God but not the cult like follwings you're supposidly supposed to do of Christianty. The "Christian" religion seems like a cult to me. If you have your own ideas and question things such as I do. It is in my nature to question things, you are hated in Christian culture. Christians break their own rules on the daily basis. They don't practice what they preach. I think God would be very upset with them. The things Christians did in the past can never be erased. I once read of a BISHOP that liked to toucher cats. And still today others keep snakes to step on and do other crazy stuff with them and the snakes are denyed proper nutritien, housing and veternarty care. I know lots of Christians who dispise snakes because they think the devil was one. I'm also finding out that a lot of Christians are not very good readers. It says so that the devil took the FOURM of a SERPHANT. Anyone who harms animals is not someone I EVER want to be assoaciated with. And most Christins I talk too seem to have a very humanistic veiw on life. "Oh go ahead and hurt it. God gave us DOMINEM over it." A king has domion over his subjects but does that mean he can hurt and kill them? Others think it's perfectly fine to go bomb abortion clinics and murder doctors who perform abortions but any one who bombs a research lab that does animal testing needs a harsh sentence. At least the babies are killed and don't have to live through countless painful expirment after expirment.

And as a Christian you're expected to wear stupid dresses to church if you are a female. My mom had to quit going to church because I would physicaly fight her about wearing dresses and it was evil for a girl to wear pants or shorts to church. I also gave her trouble about going to church because I found it pointless. She says in order to be a good Christian you have to worship in fellowship. I guess I'm headed like a snowball towards hell because I never go ANYWHERE I find pointless or with other people.

That's certainly the case in parts of Latin America - it's like good manners.
I am atheist largely because of 'That which is stated without proof, can be denied without proof' (Euclid). I respect it if others are religious as long as they don't try to convert me.

After 12 years of Catholic school I'm now Agnostic (and much happier).
The only problem I have is when someone says that because you're not religious you have no morals. All of the horrible people I've ever known have claimed to be and believed themselves to be "Good Christians".

I'm no Satanist, but I understand their system of belief enough to notice you're incorrect. Satanists don't believe that Satan/Hell is as depicted in the Bible, or that either are in fact 'evil'. Instead, they believe Satan is the true god, hell is his heaven, and the Bible is propaganda against the "holy Satan". It's basically just name swapping Heaven/Hell and God/Satan. It's really quite silly.

Truthfully, I see no need for atheists to posess any moral sense. They should instead focus on rationality and logistical thinking above emotion (much like Aspies).

Hey, don't shortchange Islam - they say sex is dirty too, at least if it happens to any woman you happen to be vaguely related to...
