OMG, that Basildon sign is like they were trying for the "Hollywood" sign (and missed!) LOL!

I once almost moved to Basildon (the rent was cheaper), but the landlady of the flat I was trying to get said that for my line of work I wouldn't be able to make a living there. :(

I just think they must have made it out to look chavvy and tacky on purpose. How is it comparable in any way to the Hollywood sign?

Bas Vegas! Have to travel there almost on a weekly basis these days. Of course, Essex can be lovely; if you squint hard enough at what you're looking at.

There's lots of pretty countryside there funnily enough. Even in Basildon.

The area around Stonehenge is really nice.

Westcountry. Lovely from there all the way down south West, traffic is nuts around Stonehenge and beyond though, one day they will go through with their road layout plans to sort it.

Well it's only comparable to the Hollywood sign in terms of it being very large white letters of the name of the area against a rising backdrop, on a hillside. . . . . . . . . .

That's quite a few similar elements.

But I did add that it "misses" quite being that . . .

I was also trying to be funny. The picture made me laugh and made me think of the Hollywood-sign-but-so-not.

I'm not laughing at Basildon itself, I was even going to move there myself once. I'm laughing at the sign, which I had never seen a picture of.

But....COME ON! It really does look like a poor man's Hollywood sign. Sorry it just does. Don't know why you would say it doesn't "in any way." Sure it does.

Something doesn't have to be EXACTLY like something to indeed have "ways" in which is looks "like" it.

Sheesh, lighten up. I was being humorous.

And I still think it DOES look like the Hollywood sign. Enough to make a joke about it. JESUS EFF.

You've completely misunderstood me. It was funny, and a tacky version of the Hollywood sign, that's why I put it there. I meant how could the Basildon sign compare to the Hollywood one because it was so awful.
