rwho222"]I don't know what to tell you, except that I see no way out of your situation. Even if you did go to school to be a gentleman scholar of some kind, how would you pay for classes? Jr colleges can be just as expensive if not more than a 4 year school.

With regard to the help I had, if you have an application, stamp, and a mail box, you've got it. With online applications now, you don't even need the last two.

What infrastructure are you imagining here? The only thing my HS guidance councilor did was give me some advice on schools that had programs I was considering. They took no active steps to get me accepted or enrolled.

What would you say was more difficult, getting into college or the college courses once you were in college? In other words if someone is unable to handle the process of getting into college, is it likely they would also be unable to handle college courses?

Getting in wasn't hard, just tedious. Forms to fill out and etc, but I really dont see what ASS Ps issue is. As for "handling" college courses, well, for me the most challenging were calculus and physics (I was a biology major) but as long as I worked I did fine. The reason most people dont succede is not usually lack of ability. Its usually lack of dicipline and effective time management.

And, what causes the lack of discipline and effective time management exactly?

It's like when I ask someone why won't a computer or an electrical appliance turn on someone answer's it's not receiving power. Ok duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Of course it needs to be powered to be turned on but why isn't it receiving power?

Point is your analysis of why most people don't succeed is absolutely to simplistic. Could it be that they're lazy(possible), have severe sleep apnea, severe executive dysfunction, comprehension problems, chronic fatigue, depression, other mental or physical illness, etc, etc?

...Well, KK, I assume that haircut is more a " maintainence " haircut, you've settled on a look you like and go to the same barber shop every so often & get " The usua ". I simply don't have " a normal life ", let alone a regular barbershop
Would a Super Cuts be particularly nice to someone with horrible, nearly all gone, teeth like mine  ? In 2nd-hand Sally Army, mostly old T-shirts and (women's) sweatpntts/pajama bottoms? And a backpack :( ?

I get one every two months for that price.

...I just got myself stuck on the slick floor, unable to get up, when I got down on the floor to get something that had rolled underneath the bed  . I had to call for help from staff in getting up. It's the CHF :( .
Even in more normal life, on the bus, getting up from a seat often takes a couple tries before I can do it. I am rather crippled you know :( . In the last leg of getting back here from the mall journey, I very slowly, resting a great deal, took my load uphill - and when someone wearing thong sandals went by me I thought about how I couldn't wear them anymore .

Have you ever been tested for sleep apnea? It can make you sleepy even when you think you are rested and have spent a long time asleep. If you are overweight its a good chance you have it. In essence you stop breathing for short spells, wake up and start breathing over and over all night so you don’t have a restful sleep.

I have sleep apnea and before it was diagnosed I was falling asleep whenever I sat still - at my desk, riding in the car and I would have problems thinking clearly. The hard part is that you have to sleep with a mask on attached to a C-Pap machine forcing you to breathe steadily.

Hi, ASS-P

I didn't read your whole thread, just the first post in it, so I'm sorry if I mention something someone else already did.

You said you were interested in college/university.

I once got some college credits through the CLEP (college level examination program), and thought you might be interested in that. When I did it, you had to take the exam at the college, but you studied on your own, so you only need to go to the college for a couple of hours, not a whole semester. The credits are real, and accepted at many colleges and universities.

Check them out, they have 33 exams, and your college might accept some or all of them and give you credits!

https://clep.collegeboard.org/

I hope you're foot feels better soon! Take care.

...Thanl You
Now even you say credits I got " might " be good.
And how would I get the necessary information to take the test - How would I learn it  ?
How would I enroll for )earning the info, also? I've been spat on so many times by the College-Industrial Complex - I'm so wounded by my encounters with them  . And I know that getting my necessary school records would be a problem . And what kind no tech could I use to learn & work on? :( All I have now is this hardly working little phone; and that isn't enough. I need help :( .

It doesn't sound like any of this is going to work for you without a dedicated full time helper which seems very unlikely you are going to get.

Really none of this is about how to get into college because it's that you need a dedicated full time helper before anything else can start. So unless you are somehow able to achieve getting a full time helper, there's really no point in considering anything else.

And the catch 22 is you would need a dedicated helper to help you obtain a dedicated helper in the first place.
