You appear to have a very extensive vocabulary. You know the meanings of most of the given terms, some of which are extremely advanced. Your excellent vocabulary can help you communicate and understand the written word.

Must be all the books I've devoured, instead of having a social life.

My score on the analogies section was apparently 135. I don't know what my overall score was though. I think I did OK there, although for the most part I just guessed. Going by my sub-scale percentile I'm guessing I have a good vocabulary though.

You appear to have an average vocabulary. While you know the meaning of some difficult words, your vocabulary is still somewhat limited. Remember that by expanding your vocabulary, you will be better able to communicate and understand the written word. Fortunately, with practice, and by expanding your reading materials and making a conscious effort to learn new words, your vocabulary can gradually increase.

And I thought my vocabulary was damn good!

Hmmm. Between 130 and 140 is what I usually score on routine IQ tests.

That's not really an accurate verbal IQ test. The ones they would actually give you in a clinical setting involve writing in sentences and I believe some auditory components.

This is very true but the test is similar to a couple of the sub-sections of the WAIS (i.e. the vocabulary sub-section) and as some ppl mentioned similar to standardized tests that have a "verbal" section.
I think the real WAIS VIQ even includes an arithmetic subsection....which can bring down the overall VIQ of some of us NLD'ers...

I got 139, sub-scale % 99.62......the thing is I cheated because I had taken this test on another website earlier this year...the first time I took it (without cheating) I got 140. I am a little disappointed in myself for not retaining more new words since the last time I took the test!

Did they pull this straight out of the verbal portion of the GRE?

My score was 126.

You have a high vocabulary, etc. I already knew that, but I don't think it is such a great score for a verbal IQ test.

Recognition of Other's Emotions

You were relatively successful on the recognition of emotions aspect of the test; however, you seemed to have had some difficulty occasionally. A score in this range indicates that:

* Reading body language and facial expressions in social situations is likely not to be too much of a challenge for you. When you read someone in the correct way, you'll be better able to approach him or her in a manner that fits the situation and what he/she is feeling.
* This means that you are less likely to misjudge others as well - or at least not too often.
* Your ability to empathize is enhanced when you are able to read others accurately.

No surprise, although I have to admit that it's not a very sufficiently implemented test as it only objects to estimate one's verbosity range and to point out verbal similitudes. It certainly doesn't determine one's verbal quotient as there is little emphasis on verbal comprehension (problem-solving), logic, and mental arithmetic which are all fundamental components of one's verbal intelligence.

Due to my analytical giftedness and incisiveness, I was fascinated with contemplating on dictionary terminologies when I was younger, so it makes sense why I'm endowed with exceptional articulation and why my vocabulary is conspicuously advanced to the general norm, who as of today are relentlessly dependent on "small talk" and "SMS expressions." Formalism and pedantry are my superior strengths as I possess a distinguishable talent for linguistically formal, complied sentence structures, and a remarkable ability to discern grammatical erroneousness.

Seems like just about everyone here got a high score. Are we all just verbally talented? I am hyperlexic and actually I'm surprised my score is so low. I usually do better on these sorts of tests. Wonder if I misread something, or if the test is not as accurate as they claim.
