The thins is that, although most of the time I am perfectly calm, if someone pushes me over the edge I may hit them. It could lead to lots of fighting etc. Actually, I am hardly violent. Why did I post my message of violence?

I think an apsie planet would be revolutionary in terms of medical and technological advances. The problem with the current system is that people do jobs they hate because they need money - on an aspie planet we'd all be rubbish with money so we'd probably just figure a better way to organise ourselves. Think of all the great innovators of the past - we'd do really great things for the first couple of generations - but then think of all the ultra aspie children that would be born... Our children would develop severe aspergic traits and may well become totally autistic and unable to function well. They say people with aspergers aren't the best matched genetically for children which is the reason for the prevelence of severe austism in silicon valley... all the uber geeks and geekesses are having uber uber aspie kids!

We could steal NT Genes for medical and genetical advancements. In-vitro fertlisation would be the new method to have kids. Unplanned pregnancies would be quite rare between aspie couples.

If Aspies had their own planet...

-It would pwn Silicon Valley in terms of technological advancements. NT computers would run on 2 or 3 gig processors. AS computers would run on 2 times 10 to the 3rd power gig processors :D . Leading export would be technology...or, for that matter, the PATENTS for them.

-Probably the most spectacular transportation system ever seen by humankind. For all modes. You'd be able to get anywhere any way you wanted, and ride an extremely reliable, well-engineered and extensively built system.

-Laws would be very different, and enforced differently. Most regulations restricting the pursuit of aspies' areas of interest, as well as areas in which aspies have (almost always unintentionally) been misunderstood by the legal system would be very different than they are in this society. They'd be written in ways that would protect society, while at the same time eliminating areas in which aspies' different behaviors may be misunderstood as something more sinister.

-Education would be very different. You'd probably see "life operations" classes as well as math, science, etc., where the proven best way to handle common situations that arise in life would be taught. You'd also see more of a rote memorization approach to the teaching of all subjects, aggresive policies against bullying and social manipulation, and a greater emphasis on non-fiction in language classes (Ironically, I just read a book--The War Against Boys by Christina Hoff-Sommers--that says that education in the US is actively trying to eliminate rote memorization from classrooms, and is trying to become more empathy-based. Could that explain why so many more kids are getting dx'd by school districts now than ever before?).

-Lighting, as well as sound (public address, fire alarms, etc.) systems would be designed differently. You would see more indirect lighting, and while bright light would be available to those who wish for it, in large public areas, it wouldn't beat down. Also, most loudspeaker/PA systems would have a quieter "alert tone" before an announcement, so that those sensitive to loud sound would have fair notice that a loud announcement was about to occur, and fire alarms would probably fade on, rather than abruptly sound.

-Most of society's social expectations would become systemized. Society would adopt a clear,
written set of instructions, procedures and rules for, social interaction. (i.e. to express desire to go on a date, you do this, this, and this...). These would probably be taught in school. Basically, the unwritten would become written.

Just a few thoughts...

Yeah, our own planet would be really nice. I think it should look like the video game Myst or Riven. You know, mystical, yet beautiful. See www.moodflow.com to view some of the rural scenes on our future planet. Urban scenes would look like American cities between 1880s and 1930s. Most establishments would be within walking distance of residential areas.

Most of the features would be like AS_Interlocking said. But here are some of my additions and modifications.

We could built a massive transportation system, where we could sit quietly and look out the window, rather than worry about road-rage. We could have trains, the el, streetcars, trolleybuses, diesel buses, and/or motorcoaches even in smallest towns, so that people would never have to deal with the driving, unless they want to.

There would be manuals of social behavior available in every library, community center, government office, and online so that aspies can always look up a social "rule" or "requirement" so that they can never be persecuted by NTs, or be lost in a social situation. An abridged, simplified version of the manuals, combined into a textbook, would be a required reading of every student before entering school.

There would be no cell phones. There would be, however, numerous payphones all over towns.

There would be a massive government-funded (i.e. free) dating service program available to every citizen over the age of 13. Anyone caught abusing the program would be banned from it for life.

Schools would be remotely monitored from a central academic security office in every city. The office would be located off-site, so it's the neutral officers, not the school officials, that are doing the monitoring. That way, there would be no way for anyone to get doubly punished. In other words, you wouldn't have teachers punishing you for hitting back. Should anyone be caught hurting another student, the officer would get their name from the school, and mail a letter to their parents. Separating the discipline and the teaching would ensure a very fair environment.

Parents would be required by law to remove or cover up any object in the house or apartment that is scaring their child (e.g. a chandelier). Furnaces (a common offender), would be exempt, unless they are in a highly visible area.

If anyone has other suggestions, feel free to add.

I hear ya on that one! In fact, that's why my avatar is what it is (picture of the Sightseer Lounge on Amtrak's Empire Builder...you have a really awesome avatar too!). I just love to kick back, look out thw window, and watch the scenery roll by when I travel. And while I usually do it with headphones blaring, the A/C in those cars will drown out any residual noise from them which others may hear.

Awww, I like cell phones :-)...my ringer is on vibrate 99% of the time though, so I'm not usually the individual whose phone annoyingly rings like crazy though :-P.

Didn't Asimov write one of the Elijah Baley Robot detective mysteries about a murder set on a planet like that? I'm reaching back like 25+ years or more. Place was beautiful and (at least for me) utopian. People communicated and courted and had lifelong friendships over some video-phone sort of system. Marriages and children happened but the arrangements were crazy stressful on all concerned.

Found it

The Naked Sun (1957)

Not his best, but enough to remember it a long time. Probably because as a little kid I thought the Solarians lived such pleasant lives

If we had our own planet we wouldnt have any nukes, or any weapons because most of us are smart enough to realise that they wouldnt be doing us any favours.

What do you think earth would think of us? We maybe should have some weapons, but those would only be incase earth started a war with us.

Not considering George Bush has nukes. Therefore, we MUST build my Ion cannon. It can take down nukes, and as a bonus, can be used offensivly also. Simply carve rude words into your enemies cities :P
