Thanks dear firemonkey.xx

I have a family member who went through this, has a genius IQ, joined Mensa etc, to find other like-minded people. He felt uncomfortable by their behaviour. I don’t know why, but I’ve long wound up drawn to very high IQ men and their families are usually very dysfunctional, though they themselves have great success stories to tell. On a grand scale! They definitely come across as highly arrogant at times, though they have no awareness of how they present. I’m yet to find anyone who’s intelligent, who has not had a very troubled life in some way. Mental health issues seem dominant. They all have a soft side though, and beneath it all, are very vulnerable.

I hope I am not arrogent, but my intelligence... Uhmmm. Actually, what sort of person am I?

You don’t come across as arrogant, MG 8). You have nothing to worry about. 8)

MG is the Antithesis of Arrogant (meaning he’s the opposite of arrogant).

In about 1990, I was in between residences. I left about 300 poems at a hotel, all in a nice, grey and suede briefcase. My apathy at this loss lead to my subsequent apathy as far as literary productions were concerned.

I never was able to write in meter.

@Teach I'm blushing lol :oops:

Juliette you've pretty much covered every member
And the list is looking far from slender
There is a another member here who adores us
And that would be the amazing Fluffysaurus

That was a terrible loss! Though my poems were never good, and only ever meant for my own expression, I’d written 3 books of them. I suffered the loss of all of them, when a man I was with didn’t like the idea of me writing about the past, as he wasn’t in them, so he burnt all three books. I was devastated, and similarly, never wrote again, until the Ode to WP. I’d written songs as well. Losing your work like that, is like losing a part of yourself.

I was never able to admit that to myself....but I do hope to remedy that.

For some reason, I see you as the type that severely sells herself short, Juliette.

I’ll have to further analyze what you’ve written—but I sense excellence in the sense of meter as well as semantic substance.

I suck at meter—but I’m pretty good at alliteration.

Hi and good to meet you, Ferris :).

I might have to do a few more verses, and Fluffysaurus, along with Fern, RightGalaxy and others that I know are missing will be added. Will add to this from time to time till it’s properly completed. I’ll give it a home in the writing forum, so as not to detract any further from firemonkey’s thread. 8)

I sincerely hope you do remedy that with future writings. If you ever choose to share or publish, would be honoured to read your work.

I prefer alliteration and am hoping to write again similarly.

I don't know how well I 'write to meter', I need to write to a beat.

I recoil when I discern modesty in an accomplished person.

I am not accomplished...and I’m even less modest

Meter and “beat” are similar. Meter is more formalized and has established criteria. “Beat” is more improvisational—like jazz. More casual. Less formal.

I brag when I feel secure in my accomplishments, it's just quite rare for that to occur. I'm just as insecure as Sly or Marknis, maybe just a little bit better at concealing it.

By meet you, I mean, I don’t think our paths have crossed in threads before. Similarly, Raleigh. I’ve heard amazing things about him, and he’s a fellow Aussie, but it’s taken me years to come out of my shell a little, and I’ve only done so in this past year really. I usually don’t stay for long, but it feels different this time. Anyway, it IS good to meet you and good that you’re here. 8)

Anyway, I am in academia, so I get my fair share of that good nerd community just by coming into work.

if i was not stunted by my rotten timing, i'd be in that good nerd community also.
