I don't do well with a lot of noises, but the other day I ran across a new one. My cell phone had some sort of electronic meltdown and started digitally scrambling the voice of the person on the other end of the line. The sound was extremely annoying, and I was surprised at how angry it made me. In retrospect it seems like such a small thing.

That reminds me, last week my cell phone kept making a noise (that I can't even remember enough to describe) when the battery was low. It was making me feel very disoriented, and I couldn't even figure out what it was for the longest time. I wasn't even sure if it was an actual noise or if my mind was playing tricks on me, but finally I figured out what it was.

Metal hitting the ground and each other, metal chairs dragging on the ground, snoring, phones, dog barking indoors, lot of people talking in the same room, those high pitch sounds toddlers make, dishes clanging together, some high pitch sounds, loud bass, loud music and TVs, mosquito sound ringtones, some TVs high pitch sound it makes, that all I can think of for now.

Sirens, crying, too many trains or too often going past my office, hooting, - too many more to mention, mainly high pitched or repetatice sounds drive me nuts.

Yeah sunlight always does that for me, especially when there's trees around and I'm in a moving vehicle. It usually just sends me half blind.

I have sounds that bother me very intensely. Note that I just found out what kind of crazy I am.

Vacuum Cleaners: One of the worst.

Filing nails: When I hear it I can feel the texture of paper and bone.

Sanding metal: I work on cars sometimes, and when I have to sand I get cold shivers from some of the frequencies that come out.

Sliding fingers on acoustic guitars: I play too, but when other people play I cringe when they roughly slide across frets. Side note, I can only play guitar using math and scales. I really enjoy music and have a great feel for it, but while playing I'm a computational machine. It's hard to play by ear and emotion like others.

I like loud music but it disorients me. I never understood how people could drive with loud music (although I used to). I think I use the effect to my gain now. If I'm really troubled or have been concentrating on one subject too much I can use the effect to clear my head somewhat.

High-pitched sounds: the whine of old (not flat-screen) computer or t.v. monitors, even in stand-by mode; dog whistles; high-pitched animal-scaring-devices (I have been tested and have a slightly higher-than-normal range of hearing). Leaf blowers! Helicopters.

High pitched tones in certain music in certain environments (mainly inside a car) seem to be amplified far beyond the rest of the sounds on the radio, so that in order to not be driven to distraction by the high pitches I have to turn the sound down so much that I can barely hear the lows.

The slurping noises some people make when they chew their food. It makes me want to choke them.

The sound of the brakes on the LRT (subway-type thing in Edmonton).
Loud or low-intensity bass.
Scraping or squealing (nails on chalkboard, gritty chalk, forks on plates).

But the worst one is that I can't stand the sound of constant coughing... my parents both have really irritating chronic coughs, and winter semester classes can be torture.

Repetitive noises just are annoying.
CHEWING GUM! I absolutely hate the noise of people chewing on something, it drives me nuts. As you can see, family dinners are not in my best interest.
Mom's coffee grinder.
Loud noises are pretty bad, such as alarms and sirens.
PHONES! I absolutely despise phones and the loud noise they make and having to deal with them and ugh. Cell phones are ok though, because they're not as loud and often have nicer customized rings.
People crunching up paper or plastic.
Metal on plates, and the sound of plates just crashing into each other and the like.
Vacuum cleaners are pretty bad too, but fortunately I rarely have to deal with a full blown vacuum cleaner sound as we don't have a carpet in our current house.
Crying babies.
TV static always scared the crud outta me as a kid, and I still hate it.
Ticking clocks... I really don't know how anyone can stand them.
