It's not just current politics. The US has been engaged in imperialism decades before Trump was of any political significance. We were active participants in the Gaza genocide even when Biden was the President. I just don't want to be a part of it anymore. Economically, I've been barely scraping by with the cost of living constantly soaring to new heights. I don't like owning or maintaining a vehicle; it is expensive and stressful. I not comfortable driving, as I have been in more car accidents than I care to admit and even more near misses. But I have no choice in a country where cities are unwalkable and public transportation is a sad joke. And on a personal level, there just isn't anything for me here. Maybe you have something to fight for, but I don't. And I wouldn't have any idea how to fight if I did. All your phone calls and protests are clearly having no meaningful affect, as SCOTUS has already given Trump absolute immunity from the law and the free reign to do whatever he pleases. It does not matter that there are more of "us", because all the power still lies with them. If any of what you said mattered, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in.

I looked into DoDEA schools. They require that I have full teacher certification (not emergency or provisional), and my state has done everything in its power to make achieving that as difficult, confusing, and expensive as possible. I graduated over 4 years ago, but still am not certified. Plus, I do not like how special education has turned out. I got into it because I want to teach; but I am now a co-teacher instead of teaching my own classes, and I spend more time doing paperwork than teaching.

Minneapolis and Chicago are two walkable cities that don't cost a lot to live in.

There are likely to be better forums to discussing moving, as folks with autism often need support networks to keep them tied to a location. The big exceptions are people moving for relationships. SSI benefits will follow you around the country (fifty states plus DC), so someone can easily move to be with someone else and they will keep their benefits!

I do not have a support system or any SSI benefits.
