I don't know any Aspie's (aside from this forum), but from reading the post I would have said that you were medium functioning in a general sense.
I do agree with the statement that you sound more along the lines of Classic Autism than AS, but it may also be the problem with my interpretation of people here on the forum. I have never met an Aspie so aside from symptoms I see in myself I have no idea how "bad" AS symptoms manifest themselves physically.
When I spoke to my doctor and a psych, they have said that people with AS are "pretty messed up", and I get the general impression that things are worse than they appear here on the forum.
For example, I don't mind large public areas at all, or social situations, and I can tolerate being touched unexpectedly, however in large public areas I focus on signs, and stare at people and get fascinated by all the different things around, I don't like being touched unexpectedly, but I can tolerate it, I get irritable and impatient, and in social situations depending on my mood and what is being discussed I can be the life of the party. To anyone that would meet me, I don't think I would appear to be autistic, or have AS in any way, its just slight nuances I guess.
However, in saying that I haven't been diagnosed as yet. But I am finding that the gap between connecting the written description of AS and what people with AS write seems to be different to what people with AS actually act like physically.
How bad is it really? When you meet someone with AS can you tell automatically? I get the impression for Age1600's post that if I saw her, I would know straight away that there was something autistic about her, but I don't think she would pick it in me.
Anyways rambling now, but some of the things mentioned here seem to be quite severe and low functioning in comparison to the suggested tag of AS being "high-functioning" which to me would mean that you appear completely normal in every way to everyone but yourself.
