Your opinion is duly noted, MemberSix - when you're ready to actually respond to points made and discuss the subject at hand, I will be glad to - but I have no interest in listening to your scoffing and unsubstantiated dismissals. All fury, no substance, thus far.

To restate, as apparently this was not clear to some: it is well within their rights to complain - period. Personally, I think it is petty and asinine, because it places the aesthetic desires of one over the practical needs of another. Sometimes, one must sacrifice for the betterment of all.

As I mentioned, she already has a farm on her property that is an eyesore.

Their cat and dog are constantly trespassing on our property.

Tell me. HOW MUCH MORE SHOULD WE TAKE?

On her property?

Does that mean in her front yard or in her backyard?

First you say she is growing it that isn't her land and now you are saying she is growing it on her property? :? Please explain.

Everyone, just ignore the OP.

He is an idiot and a troll who is simply looking for attention.

By replying to him, you are giving him exactly what he wants.

Just because it is a heated topic, doesn't make him a troll, nor make it appropriate for you to insult anyone.

All he's ever done here is make stupid topics and insult people. How is he not a troll?

How are you, or I, fit to judge what is 'stupid' to another person? It may seem like the biggest problem in the world right now - I can't make that call, and neither can you. He's been here awhile - considerably longer than I have - and while I don't agree with what he says, or may get aggravated... he is a part of this community too. For you to simply label him a troll is pretty poor form in my book. If you have something to say, PM him or post your concerns in the wrongplanet.net forum - but here is not the place for it.

Oh I get it, another way of trolling is insulting people and making a stupid topic.

But why are you surprised that your neighbor is acting upset about your complaint? You've never answered that. She wants to grow a garden and you are trying to stop it. Do you expect her to be happy about it? Of course not.

Why am I surprised? She is growing a garden on land that IS NOT HER PROPERTY. It is the property of the community.

Technicality here - if she is a homeowner and a member of the community, the property IS hers - she has a right to use it, just as everyone else in the community owns it and has a right to use it. That's the nature of a community property. That catch would be, what, specifically, the community AS A WHOLE has decided are acceptable uses and what it wants to do about the situation. If there are several people who are upset with the situation, you'll have some political backing. If you're the only person complaining, you won't get anywhere and you'll look like some kind of a crackpot. And you'll stand a chance that the members of the HOA will decide to change the rule and allow full gardening anywhere on one's property. Right up to the front steps.

Are you sure the complaint is worth the effort and potential fallout?

Before someone goes off about "rules are rules" and "law is the law" - please remember history. I'm thinking Nazi Germany. What they did, the atrocities, the invasions of neighboring countries for "living space" or "security" was legal under the laws they passed. SO something "being a rule" or "being a law" doesn't necessarily make it right, or good, or desirable. It's just words on paper (or a database, these days) that some group at some point agreed were mutually acceptable. In a way, it's just a formalization of mob rule. Nothing more.
