How far would you go if a pre-natal test for Autism emerged?
That was very funny.

What do you think I'm trying to do, start a Boy Scout troop? I've been trying to incite an insurrection on this board for the past two years. If it ever comes to war, trust me, with our combined power we'd be like Lelouch Lamperouge on brain steroids. Just because we can't use some mystic power to force people to see our way doesn't mean we can't force them to see our way anyways! Most people will change their philosophy in a heartbeat with a gun pointed at their head. And for those who don't, well no one will miss them...

I think this poll should be removed from the board because the options in the poll suggest harming others is a viable option. Just because a few Aspies are so mentally disturbed that they sanction killing others isn't a good reason for WP to condone such behavior. It gives all Aspies a bad name and leads to more descrimination against us when we have nut-cakes among our ranks that talk about wanting to kill others.
Myself I think a few of you are absolutely silly getting worked up over something that is not even in practice and has not been proven even accurate. A lot of things can produce high testosterone in the womb other than Aspergers. Let me also remind you that gender is routinely tested in US embryos. Even though most people will tell you they prefer having a boy child that still has not caused an increase in female embryo abortions. Calm down, get ahold of yourself. Basically what some of you are doing is the equivalent of crying over milk that hasn't been spilt.
Its a good measure of strength of feeling on the issue. Asides AFF and many other sites are busy declaring war on NT's - I think this poll would at the bottom of the list when someone is researching a media article against us.
Asides people from this site have not just talked about killing others, they have actually done it.
Yet. In which case its best to have a bowl at the ready to catch it.
then you already know the answer to the poll. The rest is just window dressing.

No - I want to see who is actually going to be able to do something about it. So far we have a few up for the general strike and 12 up for the revolution. 12 brave people who actually know what the right thing is and totally believe in it. As for those prepared to become young Theodores if needs be - at least some people are totally in for the cause.
Though I did add an option for those who wanted to roll over entirely, it just didn't come through.
As I posted before, it's my experience that this sort of issue is best handled with education, dealing with hearts and minds, and not confrontation. You are wrong to assume that someone not choosing one of your options is not willing to do anything; there ARE other alternatives to those you have listed that, IMHO, would be more effective. It's not about bravery; it's an honest difference in opinion as to what will WORK to get the results desired.

The question was to see how far people would go if it actually came to it. Obviously I hope that protesting within the law would work, but it would be foolish to treat it as the only option. Especially given how protests involving minor infringements tend to get a message heard so much more and take a lot less people to actually execute.
Education and dealing with hearts and minds requires resources - i.e. lots of money. We don't have that, but the other side does. Nor do we have any brilliant media people as of yet. Confrontation (hopefully peaceful, unless the other side don't fold fast enough) is the only realistic way. Even Martin Luther King had to use it.

We have a resource that MLK didn't: the internet and the blogshere.
And, in addition, I think the issues are a bit different. The issue here is much closer to the abortion fight, and confrontation there has gone nowhere. Each side just digs in deepr.

This is a subissue of a much wider one, which is how we are treated in general by society. Lets face it, we are hardly first class citizens.
As for the internet, it really has not had much of an impact. Autism Speaks and so on have the television and a big advertising budget. However you might want to note how much harder it is in the US to get an abortion compared to other countries - so the other methods do work.
That was very funny.

Sorry, but that's just how I roll. I'm an Insurrectionist. Get used to it.

We also happen to be hopelessly outnumbered, which would mean we could do little more than camp out in the mountains with AK47's if it came to a full scale war. No need to be foolish.
If the Americans can pull off the American Revolution against the Brits, then we can pull off our own revolution. The were outnumbered 5:1, you know...

how far would you all go now? there isn't a test yet, but autism speaks has huge moneys and they've been funding research into the prenatal test for a while. i'm sure there's other research going on too. science is always progressing; it'll be possible someday. why not fight it now, before it's out there?
as far as revolution, we need one anyway, but we should look to abbie hoffman and the zapatistas for inspiration on how to do it right. the whole american/french revolution thing is outmoded.

Advocacy should be more than adequate to stifle any prenatal test. You also fail to realise that we will not have talk of violence here. You have been warned.
