Alien Purists! I would not give the differance between AS and NT more then 5-10%, if that.

The hit kitty on garyww is up to 42 Lego pieces with no takers.

Wrong Planet is not worse, but it does change, and what kind of people do not deal well with change?

Well I've been around for a few months and haven't noticed a change.

But change is inevitable. I don't know what you could possibly do to fix it.

Been here about 13 months or so. I don't know about self-diagnosted aspies or not but

(load nukes, prepare to flame)

I'm not crazy about being AS. I don't like being awkward around people, tripping over things, not getting the joke (or back in the day, the girl), drumming on many flat surfaces, etc. I'd love to be NT, but that's not going to happen.

I spent over 40 years of my life being weird/stupid, and not knowing why. It can drive you crazy, but I got lucky finding this place. I'm not trying to be cool, I'm just trying to cope with myself and my life.

So I deal with it. I come here for tips, advice, different viewpoints, etc. It's helped a lot; I can actually identify AS behavior as it's happening, sometimes even veering off before I 'do it again.

Yeah, after a while it seems like I see the same forum topic again and again, but hey, that's what happens when new people come in here. I see the same thing at other forums as well.

Since the mods are pretty silent (I've talked to one once...compared to many times at other places), then WP pretty can go any way it chooses (not sure if we have a direction; if we're all 'catlike', then try herding cats some time...;)

It's not as bad as it seems.

I like WP. I feel comfortable here, and I am sorry if the rest of you feel the way you do.

I recently joined another forum associated with autism & AS, I then discovered that it was not a friendly place.

While nobody directly insulted me it was a not nice place with lots more flaming and trolling going on. So I am staying here. WP might not be perfect but it is more perfect than some other places which I will not name here.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

If you can keep your distance from PPR this is one of the nicest forums I know. If I’m going to be posting in PPR I just assume that the discourse may occasionally be on the acerbic end so I try to have thicker skin in there.

marshall if you are around and have the time could you explain what PPR is so I can make an informed decision before stumbling into something awfull.

Also what does acerbic mean. Im stuffed full of new vocabulary Not to assume your writing had anything to do with my last message, just that I don't want to feel stupid never mind im looking it up.
sorry for the trouble.

PPR = Politics, Philosophy, and Religion. The three dirty words... well I guess two, the philosophers like to think they're more civilized, maybe.

acerbic = harsh/biting.

Believe most people on the Autism spectrum at WP need a shot of reality/realism. People with autism can be just as big an A-hole then a non ASD(NT).

Be aware some people with autism do have comorbidity issues, whether they are seperate disorders or extensions of their autism is open for debate.

STOP shifting blame to non ASDs(NT) for the poor behaviour perpetrated by people with autism on WP. Individuals behave badly! Generalisations that the self dx AS(NTs in disguise) people here at WP are the culprits of all bad behaviour is small mindeness.

BTW... I find WP very tame in relation to abuse and insults directed personally at another member compared to other support type website forums.

That's very true. I know from personal, real life experience. There's this girl who has Asperger's that is very mean to me every time I see her. She doesn't like the fact that I live with my mom & bring her with me nearly everywhere I go. She also doesn't like the fact that I don't talk & am very awkward in public. She's very loud & annoys most people around her & doesn't like the fact that I'm the opposite of her, so she used to make remarks & make me feel horribly for it. Luckily, I very rarely see her anymore.
