maybe that's weird but i can stand a handshake or a hug, but i almost scream when someone just touches me. my head, my hands, my back with their hands, fingers - my mind just sumps out of my head when i feel it.

I don't like being touched by anyone other than my husband, but I will tolerate some types of social touching, even though I'd rather not.

For others who dislike being touched, what do you say to people who try to touch you? I've been searching for a good response. Is "NO TOUCHING!" too blunt? (should I have made a new thread for this question? *sigh* I never know if I'm doing the right thing or not).

Since I started this thread, one of the guys at our church has stopped the patting me on the shoulder and shaking hands. With him this would happen in the choir practice room. I have been sitting in a chair in the corner of the room that is not that accessible. When he enters the room and says "Hi," I give a quick "Hi" back and begin talking to the pianist about our songs. I acknowledge him, but I have not been making myself open to him to continue conversing with me---verbally and touching. So, he goes on and greets other choir members and pats them on the back (including my mother---and she doesn't like him patting her either).

I guess each of us just needs to find a strategy to avoid those that usually touch us. Good luck.

i hattte being touched, a light touch even leaves me with bruises, but a firm touch doesnt bother me at all. i loove deep pressure or weight, but if a feather falls on my arm or leg it sends terrible pain to my brain idk why.

Ironically, I never thought of this.

I don't get "creeped out" by someone touching me, but I never thought of how unnatural it feels to me. I just assumed everyone felt that way.

I just go with a blunt "Don't touch me." It gets the point across.

It almost hurts when I am lightly tapped. If it is more of a firm grasp I am ok. I don't like hugs unless I ask for them.
Like most of you, I must be prepared for the events.

If I notice someone trying to touch me I squirm away. I told my friends I don't like to be touched, but they do it anyway. :x I think they thought I was joking...
