OP is NT. It's even in his profile. I've heard this same rant from people who don't understand autism and try to make it out as though it's an excuse.

OP, why did you feel the urge to lie about having aspergers? Is it a feeling like you just must blend in wherever you go even if it's to put down people?

Actually, if you take two steps back, what the OP is doing (apart from trying to create an whole new variation of the way English is spelled, which is his right...if it is fun for him) is claiming that we are all faking things that are not academically acknowledged as facets of AS.

After which he goes on to contend that we are really "narcissists", which he supports by claiming we have attributes that are not academically acknowledged to be identifiers of NPD, Pathological Narcissism, or Malignant Narcissism.

So, in effect, he argues that we are all claiming "victim status" due to AS by faking something quite different and, in fact, instead are all "narcissists" in spite of not having, NPD, Pathological Narcissism, or Malignant Narcissism.

How weird it THAT???

Perhaps he just forgot to take his meds?

M (Who is giving with exemplary anger management here, when you consider how much it sets her teeth on edge to see the term "narcissism" abused as a pejorative in any circumstances...)

Mechanima, you and I must have read it the same way. That was the impression I got as well.

Well having just read that inital post, it is interesting to read other peoples perspectives on this.

I am on this site because I want to understand myself better as I suspect I may have suffered some form of autism as a youngster, which have carried over in to adult life, and just need to speak to others who have this.

Most "aspies" I have happened across are not self pitying individuals looking to for a label to set themselves from others so that they can treated differently.

All I want is to get to know myself better so that I can understand why I behave the way that I do in social situations and why I think the way I do when it comes to problem solving and teamwork.

I was once diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. But I have come to realize the realities of the situation: that is, Aspergers is an excuse for failure. I have come to realize the fraud that was perpetuated upon me and upon so many others. Hopefully I can educate you on the subject also.

WOW, some moron gets a doctor that is just as dumb, and they figure they know EVERYTHING! BTW, you didn't have AS.

You DO realize that a lot of groups do NOT treat aspies, because they figure there isn't any real disability. At least HFA has a low enough floor that there is a lot of reason for providing "assistance".

However, the dark truth is that "aspies" are simply a different, more insidious species of narcissist - essentially the narcissist stripped of his Type A personality and pared down to the sniveling, whimpering loser core.

WOW, what have you been reading? The supermarket tabloids?

The only halfway intelligent thing in the post.

Yep, too dumb to even use a pen name!

Anyway, it's been fun. Yeah, I know you are either a pretty dumb moron, or a troll, but I couldn't resist.

...and if he has taken his meds now...he is probably WAY too embarassed to come back and reply, what with being NT and all...

I know I would be...

Is it possible that Charlie Manson or some sicko serial killer is actually allowed unmonitored internet access?

It is a horrible blog.

What I imagine Adolf Hitler would write if he had been reincarnated into 21st C USA. Typical of these fascists is that it is their own incompetence and sense of inferiority that they are projecting onto the outside world.

People who are confident in their own abilities, who have genuine skills, do not need to belittle others.

I know the post was inflammatory, and probably completely off the bat referring to autism, but a lot of it just so happens to relate to me.

To the OP: You say that the truth "will set you free". Well that's all very well, but say you've just informed me (at least about myself, although like you said I already know that I am narcissistic and probably will eventually spiral down into failure due to my own self destructive nature) and I believe you, then how do I go about fixing the narcissism? Some useful practical advice would be helpful.

Cause the truth is, I'm scared. This thread just happened to appear at a time when I am really in trouble with these exact issues.

hmmm... There are alot of people who have Aspergers syndrome who are happy and successful. Many complete first class honours degrees. In fact those with aspergers are able to concentrate on mindnumbing tasks which mean they can excell in occupations such as engineering and computer programming. Many also get married. Losers they certainly are not... what a terrible nasty thing to say.

Ah well, in response to popular demand, I've finally locked the thread.

I'm open to requests to unlock it, but I think it probably belongs back at the bottom of the murky puddle is climbed up out of.

I'd not take it too seriously, sunshower. I'm pretty sure the quote goes something like:
someone wrote:
The most insidious lies come clothed in truth.

Of course, many of the things in the OP are true (-ish). Without them, the rest would look so... unconvincing?

(I may have just made that quote up? If anyone knows the real quote, please PM me, and I'll get it right)
