HEY, I have an idea! Why don't you people pay to have her flown to YOUR non US country! Then YOU can worry about it!

Personally, I don't think she should have had more children given her situations, and she should have given some up for adoption... I don't think it is physicly possible to her to manage that many children. If she can, good for her. If not, then she shouldn't have had them all.

If I lived in a non-US country I would!

The way I see it, 2Uken, her having the babies is no worse than anyone else having them. To me it's all the same. Everyone has kids for selfish reasons. Lots of people have kids and are lousy parents. Why single out this one woman?
She is getting a lot of bad press. She even recieved a death threat.

She had them in such a way as to endanger their lives and her own and cost people a lot of money. We wouldn't be near as annoyed about it if she'd had them the regular way, instead of eight of them born dangerously premature through an expensive procedure.

My best guess... hoarding-type obsessive-compulsive disorder. Having as many babies as possible despite not being able to care for them, and being in denial about that fact, seems a lot like the people in the animal-hoarding cases I've studied.

Yeah, that was my first thought, too. It's kinda like being the crazy cat lady, but it's with babies, instead of cats. Although, that doesn't quite explain her weird obsession with Jolie... I think she has to have some sort of mental illness. That much, I can say that I feel sorry for her about. I don't think (though, I'm not her so I don't know for sure) this is about greed. There's so many other ways to gain fame, and fortune that doesn't include so many negative consequences.

I'm perplexed by the people that are sending her death threats. It's strange to me that they are angry at her for being unethical, but they're sending her threats of violence????

Okay I am watching the videos. She has worked before but she got injured on the job and it made her disabled. She is unable to work because of it due to lower back injury. She was married but after being unable to have kids, their marriage broke up. She was able to have kids through sperm donor. She and her husband could have tried adoption. I think she is being selfish too. Eating away peoples money so the state can support her kids. I would never do that. Few kids would be enough. I want at least one child.

MOST people PROVIDE for them, or even merely have a HOPE to! She is being CRUEL! If she did this with puppies, the ASPCA would certainly react! I "single her out", because she is ripping off a country, endangering and abusing children, etc....

There's an emphasis on the mega family right now. There's John and Kate Plus Eight, the Duggers and their 18? is it? kids, Angelina is another kid collector. It's everywhere. This woman must watch a lot of television and she sees all these megafamilies and she wants one too.
You cannot single her out. I watched the show on TLC with the Duggers and they were on a bus and getting dinner ready for the kids. It was nothing but the cheapest food imagineable which is what they get every meal, I am sure, because who on earth besides billionares can afford that many kids?
It's not just this one woman. Right now, the emphasis is on the mega family but once people get more pissed about the economy they are going to grow weary of these shows and news stories really quickly.

I don't think she is any worse than the other megafamilies. When I see these shows on television, and I hardly ever watch them, I think these people are just, I don't know, out of touch with reality, maybe.
I think four kids is enough for anyone. Four is a good aim, but not many more than that.
It's a part of the american culture right now. Mega families. As for ripping off the country, well, nearly everyone who has a lot of kids is doing that. I mean, let's say you have some money saved, you decide to have ten kids. Well, sooner or later you are going to need a lot more money to take care of those kids and and it will come from society. The money will go out of someone else's pocket and into yours, where else is it going to come from? Outer Space?
It's got to come from some source and you will be the one demanding it because you chose to have a huge family. Now if everyone decided to have a huge family (which in my opinion is just plain selfish) think of how much more population that would mean for the earth. Could the earth handle it? That is why I object to these shows.

I don't know what it is, maybe everybody has really become convinced deep down that the species is threatened, so by having these huge families they can ensure that at least one or two of their progeny survive. It's not logical, but mother nature is seldom in line with human reason. Robert Kiyosaki has pointed out that in inner city war zones in the US, there's a lot of emphasis on having lots of kids at a very young age, as if the automatic response to survival threats is to boost the number of kids, to ensure gene survival.

We are essentially like all other life, we exist to see that our genes are the genes that survive, even if it's at the expense of the other guy's genes. Very few people can override that and say you know what, my genes are inferior, and they should go extinct. When I told my parents that, they got angry and started yelling at me. So everything in our systems says to ensure gene survival at any cost.

I can logically look at my whole family and say that I have the worst of all possible worlds and maybe my genes personally shouldn't survive. But society says otherwise. It's not like I'm the end of the line, my father has a sister who has small grandchildren, but humans seem to place emphasis on the man's genes surviving, and my father's brother died childless, and Dad only had one son. In Africa it's common to have a "golden child", a male child who has the hopes of his whole family riding on him. I serve that function in my family. But my genes are just not up to the task. But anyway, I think that some people are driven by a desire to see that their genes survive through whatever's ahead.

GEE, I would like a 747, a nice hanger for it, and a BIG yacht, with all the harbor fees paid! Aw heck! Throw in a nice wife, and a few hundred billion dollars a year! OK, who is going to give ME what I want? Should I create a huge bond fund, and rip off some country to pay for it? I WAS involved in a Bond sting once! The jerk that did it was arasted by the FBI. Maybe I could pick up where he left off? Would you all support my stealing a few billion to get what I WANT?

BTW It is AMAZING how food is now! We almost have those fabled pills. Perhaps 90% of the nutrition I have gotten for the past 6 months or so has been like that. I am down to paying less than like $5/day. Of course, even rice and beans may cost less.

But you know... I BET most of those families are AT LEAST lower middle class, and didn't TRY to get so many kids. Fertility is just not, and probably will NEVER be, an exact science. To try to shoot for what you want almost guarantees failure, so you have to shoot higher.

If Octo Mom was on the spectrum, I would laugh my ass off!

Who in their right mind would bring up 14 kids on his/her own?
If Octo Mom is indeed another selfish person wanting kids but not caring for them,
then someone will eventually come in and take some of them, but not all of them away.

Would that be under "at least some children left behind" policy, or does it fall under "not all your child are belong to us"?

Politicians and church administrators want people to have lots of kids because they think it will benefit them later. They care about quantity of humans not quality of life.
Even though I think it's selfish, I have no problem with it so long as the politicians and church leaders provide for the needs of the people. They are doing a lousy job now. In the US many do not have health care. Now why would we want everyone to have an average of ten kids each when so many don't have health insurance now? In the US, things aren't set up for families with lots of children.
Many people are vehemently hostile toward the idea. To me, the value system isn't right. If we were a country that emphasized food and health care instead of buying useless junk that most don't even need, I would say, yeah have a bunch of kids, a big family, your own tribe because they would thrive in a supportive environment that is pro huge family and everyone would have one so no one would be sabotaging things.
Maybe when this is all said and done our values will get the full examination they are in need of.
Oh, and one more thing, I bet this woman will be married by the end of the year. Some messianic guy is going to step up to the plate and rescue this family by the end of the year.
