I don't get the 'point' in 'fashionable clothes', especially brand-name jeans as opposed to regular jeans and whatnot.

My regular ensemble consists of a grey t-shirt (either short or long-sleeved) and either regular jeans or camouflage pants, as well as an additional layer on my upper body of some sort, which as of late has been my black and red college jacket. I wear the same shoes every day, as well as the same kinds of socks, as I don't see much point in variety down there.

I do sometimes wear my red t-shirts, but I see them in my closet about once every couple of months.

My wardrobe is not too disasterous, mainly because my best/only friend regularly orders me to buy a particular item for myself or donates me some of her clothes (she doesn't wear particularly female clothes!). I think independently I've bought a t-shirt and a pair of jeans in the last three years.

I can sometimes make myself look okay but it takes effort, which is lacking if I feel bad. I have two looks. One is green cargo pants with a plain dark t-shirt (such as me on the left). The other is some descent jeans (with some shape built in so follows your legs and have an attractive texture) with a plain dark t-shirt or a shirt (such as me drunk).

If its not too warm I'll wear a jacket from a suit, as in my profile pick (the scarf was one night only).

I like your profile pic. Scarves give me a rash so I don't usually wear them, but I do like them.

cotton shorts with elastic waists, oversized tshirts, unlike Mixtli (I'm male), I don't really like the feeling of anything touching my skin. This includes socks, but I would never wear shoes without socks and the ends of my socks can't touch my toes, which means I buy shoes that are too big. Pretty much all my clothes are black or navy blue, with a little dark brown and dark green thrown in (my wife threw them in so ppl wouldn't think I wore the same clothes all the time- used to get asked that alot). We but my shirts and shorts in bulk, when I find something tolerable we buy 10 of it.

Provided that I'm a woman, I try to dress in a womanly and fashionable way, but I also do have a unique style. I'm not a fashion tool at all. I think that my dress sense is above average.
My fiancé is an Aspie too, his dress sense is more or less OK but he tends to commit some "fashion crimes" occasionally. Besides, I could improve him reasonably in this way. He was always a handsome man but now he looks even better ;)

This is my approach, too. I wear mostly JCrew sweats and various T-type shirts and sweatshirts. I find something I like and buy multiples in different colors (JCrew loves me). I wear them constantly until they start to become rags and then replace them with identicals. In cold weather I add layers of same; in warm weather I subtract the layers. I do have to wear jeans to ride my horses (also one particular JCrew style in multiples) but it's back to sweats the minute I'm done.

A typical day for me, if I have to go out, I would wear a white shirt with french cuffs and very spread collar, sometimes a cashmere sweater on top, sometimes a tie, crisp cotton trousers or dressy wool trousers, sunglasses, a scarf and some type of casual, suede moccasins, but my style can also vary a lot. However I always have some sort of "dressy" style in public and usually wear sunglasses. The french cuffed shirts and generally high quality and elegant style mixed with the sunglasses makes me look a bit playboyish but I think I pull the look off well.
Since I'm not too strict on dress codes and rules and can sometimes wear my shirts untucked together with dress pants, sometimes even sneakers, I'm more of a "dandy" than a sartorialist. I also keep my hair rather long and use hair clips in the back while leaving streaks of hair long, kind of a girl hairstyle.

I love hooded jackets. A hooded jacket , duffel or slim hooded trench is really nice.

I also have this appreciation for tech fibers, nylon and polyester. I love my classic Adidas tracksuit.

I wear anything besides wool clothing.

But, I especially love those stretchy under Armor shorts. They are so comfy!

I prefer t-shirts(the cotton /polyester blend. NOT the 100% cotton t-shirts . they shrink to fit weird) and I Like the polyester blend sports workout pants(elastic waist). The are loose fitting. I don't like the ones with nilon. Those stick to my legs with static. I don't like jeans, long sleeve shirts, shoes( i prefer sandals) My husband says I look like I am dressed in pajamas.

I wear what I like, and if I have a job then I'll wear whatever it is I'm supposed to wear to the job....as long as it just has to do with clothes if they want to tell me how to have my hair cut, or that I should wear make up......forget it. But yeah I'll wear a belt, tuck my shirt in, keep my hair out of my face(if required) and stuff like that.

I'm in the process of working on my style and appearance and as with most Aspies I've had very negative experiences with what clothes I wear and criticism of my fashion sense and style. This has been for numerous reasons which include a habit of wearing the same clothes until they are literally unwearable and sticking to the same colour spectrum of blue and black.

When it comes to dealing with NT's what you wear is a big issue and makes a big impact (apparently 90% of the first impression is based on visual image) and I'm interested in knowing other Aspies experiences with clothing and personal style from what style of clothes they like, what colours they prefer, what fabrics they can wear (I can't handle pure wool eeeek) and how they like to wear their clothes.

If it was up to me I'd wear the same style and colour t-shirt and jeans all the time, yet social rules dictate we need to dress differently (and appropriately) for different social situations and since most of us Aspies are oblivious to what our peers do, we skip this aspect of social interaction.

I will really appreciate hearing from other Aspies regarding this topic.

I'm probably in no position to give advice.

Personally I don't think it matters what you wear, as long as you like it and keep your clothes clean. I look like I never change my clothes, but it doesn't matter as I wash them regularly enough. I don't have much variety but it doesn't bother me and doesn't seem to bother other people either.

Just maybe have a suit or something for more 'posh' social events, just a couple of smart shirts, trousers, tie and maybe a jacket, as well as smart shoes. Or a smart dress or two if you're a woman.
