That means I have to go through the whole ordeal again, and find a way to pay another $500. Then probably Social Services will change their demands and I'll have to have a house-builder's dx of AS, and I'll have to pay him another $500, then another $500 to a horse-groomer for diagnosing me with AS, then $500 to a computer technician, another $500 to a primary school teacher, then a cowboy, then a race car driver, a Gynecologist, an Architect, a NASA Engineer, a housewife, a musician, and so on and so forth. The last is the lawyer.
Thanks for the explanation. Though it seems totally unfair to me, like they're "moving the goalposts". Best of luck with whatever you decide to do next.
In all seriousness, this sets the alarm bells ringing about quite what a 'psychologist' can offer that a 'psychiatrist' can't

Can a psychologist read books on AS that bamboozle a mere psychiatrist? These are both 'soft' sciences where they make most of it up as they go along and hardly any of it is provable, so why would they care anyway? Well, given the money involved, I think there's your answer.
It's a shame that none of your list of people qualified to diagnose you includes people who actually have AS themselves

Are you planning to go see a psychologist? Wouldn't it be a strange scenario if the psychiatrist said you had AS, but the psychologist disagreed? Would they have to fight it out themselves to determine who was right?

I was rediagnosed last year and the cost was $2000!.
"Rediagnosed"?! What is that about then? Does a diagnosis wear out over time and have to be renewed?

Or is somebody just wanting to make $2000 for nothing?
ReDux topic
The first Dx made note of autistic traits. Oddly enough, the first psychologist stated I should have a followup. I guess he was not quite sure.
In those days, I had no knowledge of Asperger's, so I understood this to be a negative thing and decided to hide it from employers. There was no mention of a disability.
When i mentioned to my EI counselor last year about autistic traits and the report from the year 2000, he inquired about further funding to find out if what I was experiencing was a disability that could prevent me from gainful employment. He checked the many jobs I had over the years (40 jobs in 12 years and the pattern of dismissa)l. Former employers and my old college were contacted. Then I was evaluated again. I erroneously labeled my second Dx as a rediagnosis, though technically it is not, as you commented above. Very expensive, though I paid into the Employment fund for years. It is not "welfare."
All this so I could have employment support and a guaranteed income in order for my kids and i to have food, clothing and housing.
