When I'm criticized. I get very upset when someone tells me I'm doing something wrong that I think I'm doing right. I get so upset that I will cry about it.

Me too and also with harsh manners, out of selfpity, anger or being confused, even a friendly word of a friendly person.
I can cry for others but that's better under control and not as in "embarrassing situations"

A list of numerous things .. (certain movies and books). Animal cruelty especially because I am a huge supporter and advocate of the ASPCA a.k.a. American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Also, if individuals are sad in general, it makes me sad too. I have an incredibly strong sense of sympathy for people.

A few songs, videos or stories about violence against anything that is defenseless (it can be animal or a human), putting all my focus and strength on something and still don't be able to do it and a few sad moments from movies/books.

The state of my life :-/

I can go weeks, maybe months, without crying once, then I'll go through a tearful phase. I'm in a non-crying phase at the moment, and it's not because I'm happier - to the contrary. I think I just become too numb to cry.

I rarely cry at anything else. News of real-life cruelty makes me angry or depressed, but not tearful. I rarely cry at books or films either, although there was one notable exception a few years ago with the book version of "I Am Legend". There was a chapter about a dog, which literally had me sobbing afterwards. It tugged at my heartstrings, not sure why it affected me so much. But it was incredibly moving.

the exciter of this psychosomatic reaction can be from anything- some people get overexcited from viewing great art, others beautiful nature scenes, still others from magnanimous sentiments or grandly emotional music. I knew somebody who would tear up watching parades. watching "AI-Artificial Intelligence" just about wrecked me.

AI as in the Steven Spielberg film?

I don't very easily tear up in general, though, although it's a lot easier when a bit drunk and listening to melancholy music... >.>

Love nature, but again, I wouldn't say I cried over it. Think the only times I may come close to shedding a tear or two is when faced with something ridiculously, almost impossibly, cute: such as the 18 ducklings I saw all huddled up together once.
