Why are neurotypicals worth mimicking?

Well who wants to look different and encourage bullies? I know you can still be bullied when putting on an NT front, but ignoring all NT behaviour and being all different will encourage bullies even more, and then you will just get criticised by other people saying, ''well act normal then!'' But if you already are acting normal and you get bullied, you get a lot more sympathy.
That's just letting them win. Why bend to the wishes of your oppressors?
I think I aimed that more at the types of people who don't want to be like an average NT, yet in the next breath complaining about being different.
I actually agree with you. I can't stand seeing and listening to people complain about how people treat them but yet they refuse to do something about it. They can either quit caring what others say and live their happy life or do something about it if they hate it so much or else just shut up if they won't do a thing about it (Not you, the complainers).
WHAT!? how is it the person who is complaining at fault? Why should they do something about it? If they are not hurting anyone, whats the problem? Its the person who harassing them that's at fault. Typical blaming the victim mentality.
Because it's annoying to listen to them moan about it. It puts me into a meltdown and I get very angry. Mom told me to quit wearing my coat to high school when I told her how it was giving me too much attention because kids kept asking me of they can wear it and I couldn't take all that attention. So she told me "So don't wear it to school anymore" I didn't. If I kept wearing it to school and facing that same problem. I have no right to moan to people about it because they get sick of it. I can either deal with that attention or stop wearing the coat to school. I took option two. If I were joe90, I would have told the friend to shut up about her sore neck because she refuses to go out and buy new pillows because she is so worried about what people would think of her carrying a huge sack on the bus.
Put it this way, you don't want to walk around with cash in your hand because someone can snatch it out of you hands. So what are you going to do about it? Keep it put away in your bag or risk having it get taken. Would that still be blaming the victim?
You park your car and hide your valuables in the glove box or under the seats or put them in the trunk because people out there love to steal and you never know if they might peek in through your car windows and see the items and break in to steal. So you are going to try and avoid that from happening.
See there are ways to avoid issues and being a victim of something. But complaining about it when you refuse to do anything about it annoys me. if someone kept walking around with cash in their hands and then moaning about how people keep snatching it out of their hands or moaning about how people keep breaking into their car and taking their available items but they refuse to hide the items in their car or take it with them.
Even drivers do all they can to avoid car accidents and that is watching for idiotic drivers on the road and other drivers. It's the same for bicyclist too and pedestrians. they also have to watch for traffic and to make sure a car will stop or that a car is letting them by. If someone kept getting in car accidents but still wouldn't watch the road and pay attention to traffic, I would get annoyed with their complaining too because they aren't learning by watching the roads.

So what they should just shut up and take it? or not do what makes them happy? Of course you have a right to moan, you did nothing wrong.
The examples you used are totally irrelevant. I'm talking about someone having the right to complain if someone teats them badly just because they are a little different. They shouldn't have to change if they are doing no harm to anyone.
In the first example yes it would still be blaming the victim, because they did nothing wrong (stupid yes but did nothing wrong, stealing is stealing.) The second one, yes of course you can get annoyed because in that instance it would be the persons fault.
Do you also think that women shouldn't complain if a man harasses her or worse rapes her just because she was wearing revealing clothes? It's basically the same thing, trying to blame the victim.
Your attitude reminds me of the the bullies I had as a kid, they would blame me and say I deserved it just because I was a little strange and therefore had no right to complain.

It's a good direction, but no man is an island. Really doing it is much harder than it looks. Not many can do it alone and those that do, smell bad.
Yeah well it would probably be fun.......being out in nature with no stupid people, only you and your creative thoughts and whatever animals are in the area and whatever weapon of choice you have for defending yourself and hunting. I can make a fire, I can fish and hunting I would have to learn but I've shot targets before so I imagine its not beyond my abilities. It would be difficult but what am I going to do keep depending on a bunch of sheep? I don't want meat full of freaking chemicals and corn and I don't want pesticide sprayed veggies. If self sufficient smells bad I would love to smell bad.

NT's are not worth mimicking , nobody is. There seems to be lot of people here who think they have to conform to be accepted. Which I don't get, why don't you grow a back bone and say screw you I'm happy just being myself.
As much pain as it causes me to have people treat me like crap............I just can't quit being myself, if people don't like me whatever it still bothers me but I'm not going to change the person I am just to be accepted.

You might feel comfortable with a group in Taos, New Mexico. Check them out, maybe: http://earthship.com/
I worked with a guy named Nader Kalili on a museum project as well as a few projects at the CalEarth Institute. His philosophies are interesting. Simplify, simplify, simplify was something he said a lot. He followed Rumi and preached sustainable living: http://calearth.org/

People are stupid. People are mean. They are wrong but I also think we should also try and prevent ourselves from being a victim. I don't care anymore what people think of me. If someone wants to think I am homeless just because I am wearing worn out clothes, they can go right ahead. If they want to not stand near me like I am some criminal, I don't care. I won't complain about it.
People also do everything they can to stay safe at night such as do not walk through the parks at night where they could get raped, have a phone with them, have someone else with them. But sometimes s**t happens and they still get raped or harassed and no I don't think that should happen either to them and I would say it wasn't their fault because how were they supposed to know it would happen? But let's say they knew ahead of time it would happen because they magically predicted the future and saw it happening to them? Should they not try and avoid it? Most women would try and avoid it if they knew it was going to happen to them but sadly that is impossible because no one can see the future. I am sure most women think if they knew it was going to happen, they would do a do over by turning back time and taking a different pathway so it wouldn't happen. That is how I would feel if I got raped. I would wish I could turn back time to avoid it.
Should a child not bring things to school that may trigger kids to bully them? Should a child not have to keep secrets so they won't get bullied?
Mom used to tell me to not do this or that or kids would think I was weird or not like me and that if I wanted kids to stop running away from me, stop running away from the teachers, throwing things in class, talking about weird stuff, stop hiding in the bushes. She even told me to not smell the paper or kids will think I am weird. She wasn't even a bully because she didn't go around putting people down and being mean to people. She didn't bully kids either growing up. I am sure she did some like most kids do but she didn't do bullying like real bullies do. She did that to protect me and so I be happier. Then after a while she gave up and decided I would have to figure it out myself. She still told me sometimes what not to do like don't tell anyone I watch Teletubbies or don't bring my Teletubby blanket on the bus on the way to a track meet.
Was I wrong as a child for trying to change my behavior so kids would stop misreading me and picking on me and treating me different?
I have came to a point now where I don't even care. Just as long as people leave me alone, I don't care what they think of me. If it's a problem for me, I would do something about it or turn on the "I don't care attitude" like I always do. But I don't complain if it bothers me that much because I don't want to annoy other people and get them upset. I treat others the way I want to be treated so therefore I won't keep complaining about something I don't wish to solve. If I ever complain, it's because I want a solution to my problem. I am not going to keep complaining if I am not going to do a thing about it. I think enough stupid people and getting bullied has made me a stronger person because I stopped caring.
The irrelevant things I listed was me trying to make a point because I see it as the same thing.
If anyone wants to keep complaining and not do a thing about it, I am not the right person for them to do that too. They would have to go find someone else who doesn't mind it.

yeah maybe, but I may be able to get a job and save up to get some property or something....I also would probably need to get a drivers licence and vehicle so I could get there.

It's nice to think about but I think I'm too much of a wimp. Cleaning a freshly killed animal is pretty gross. Then there's the matter of preserving food in the summer without refrigeration. You basically have to eat an animal the same day you killed it. That's a ton of work for just one meal. You can grow vegetables but it takes time and careful planning. Surviving the winter would be hard. The only efficient way would be to stock up in the fall and keep a frozen stash of food. I don't think my stomach is equipped to handle eating semi-spoiled food all winter like they did in the middle ages. Don't know how to keep the stash frozen all the time without an electric powered freezer. Maybe I could own my own generator/battery, either solar or hydro powered and just use it to keep food frozen. That would make things easier, but I'd be screwed if it breaks.

The thing with your mum telling you not to do certain things in case others thought you were weird is strange epically the Teletubbies thing. If my son or daughter was being being bullied just because they acted a little strange or liked things that weren't deemed age appropriate, I would not blame them for doing something that makes them happy, I would blame the bullies. I also wouldn't stop them from doing it.
I have a question, if you ever had a son or daughter who happened to be gay and was being bullied for it, what would you do? say to them stop being gay? or stop 'acting' gay? because that attracts bullies?
In my opinion yes you were, why should we have to cave in to bullies? by doing so we are saying that some how the person being bullied is in the wrong.
Again why should they have to do something about it? when they have done nothing wrong.

Maybe I could own my own generator/battery, either solar or hydro powered and just use it to keep food frozen. That would make things easier, but I'd be screwed if it breaks.
You do not have to eat the animal the same day you kill it, there are a such thing as freezers to keep meat in.......thats what the solar panals, windmills or whatever will be for, to provide electricity for the freezer and other things. Growing veggtables is not that hard, of course its kinda hard work but usually worth it.

It's overwhelming if you look at the big picture but you start with composting, gardening or water conservation and go from there. The more you learn and try out, the more it just becomes a way of life.
Personally, I strive to get to that place myself, but realistically, it's next to impossible to do it without others. There are a lot of good-hearted people out there with similar goals who aren't really interested in you for your perfect behavior. You'll be amazed at how many people you'll run across who feel exactly the same as you about "society." You'll find them, Sweetleaf, at least one or two. Concentrate on making yourself ready.

Of course they would have avoided it, what I was trying to say is that it wouldn't be their fault and they have every right to complain.

But most of them don't keep complaining about it because most of them keep it to themselves and not tell anyone about it. I didn't know my mother was raped until I was 21. It happened when she was in college and it was on the campus. She kept it a secret all those years and I don't know the details because I never asked. Lot of women don't like talking about those things. I haven't met a woman yet who keeps complaining about her rape.
Mom let me do things still, she just told me to not tell other kids about it. When I was younger, she try and get me to stop and she told me to not push my doll around in the neighborhood but I did it anyway and once I found out my brother was getting teased for it, I stopped.
I would try and talk to the school principal to get the bullying to stop. If she does nothing about it, I would try and get my son transferred to another school and tell him to not tell others he is gay because he might get bullied again.
To avoid getting crap from people like getting stared at, not getting hired, being told to shut up, avoid rejections, to avoid bullies.
But we can learn to not care so it won't bother us anymore what people say to us or what they think or if they stare at us or if they don't want to be our friends or not invite us. Once I stopped caring what people think, it made my life easier.

Well, you certainly won't learn it all overnight. It takes years to learn to garden. It's NOT easy. Anyone can plant a seed and watch it grow but in a real garden, you have insects, fungus, disease, drought and wild critters to contend with - and some not so wild critters, like giant dogs who like to relocate your tomatoes. But you start with a few herbs and veggies and go from there, you're on your way.
Raising livestock is easier than hunting. Chickens are nice - calming to just sit and watch them for awhile.
Food preservation isn't that big of a deal. People have been preserving food for thousands of years. We do have the luxury of our forefathers ingenuity so it's even easier now - it still takes time and effort.
Then you start to think about things like bread, coffee, chocolate, sugar, salt, condiments or vinegar, soap, feminine protection, hair products. Will you weave your own cloth and sew your own clothing? Shoes? We take so much for granted. A family of 4 could live on 1 acre with super careful planning and sustainable shelter. It's just so much easier if one guy grows all the grain and vegetables, another guy mills the grain, one guy raises the cattle and pigs, another does all the butchering, etc... It's easier to specialize in one or two things than hundreds.
I've been recycling since I was a young child. I grew wheat one year with my kids and we baked bread. (A LOT of work for two loaves...) I took a Master Gardener's class, then I learned to compost, got a windmill, etc... One thing leads to another. Now, I have three gardens and a greenhouse. I sew a lot of my own clothing and bake my own bread. I've raised pigs for meat and plan on getting either another pig or steer in the Spring.
I can make soap.
You can do a lot to prepare while you're earning the money for that land and car. Before the internet and 5 bjillion TV channels, I learned from books I got at the public library. The internet is a great resource.
However, this is getting off topic. Why don't you start a new topic about sustainable living. There might even be people on WP who actually live off the grid.

Well I am aware of that, obviously its not going to work perfectly at first but hopefully I would learn from any mistakes I make. Also where do these giant dogs come from and what kind are they?
Raising livestock is easier than hunting. Chickens are nice - calming to just sit and watch them for awhile.
Maybe, but I might just learn to do both, thing is if I raise something i might get attatched to it.

Well I guess I might have to go into town once in a while for tampons and soap(though maybe I could make my own soap easier said than done though). I don't care much for hair products and I've got pleanty of clothing and shoes as is but I imagine I might have to try and get those from outside sources as its a bit hard to create my own at this point I would not know how. Also I don't plan on a familly so one person is easier to take care of than multiple people though ideally I would want at least one other person around.

But yeah there is probably a lot I would have to learn which is fine with me, and I realise this is all easier said than done so maybe it will never even happen but it seems like a good plan.

Thing is its not always best to keep things bottled up, people with depression often do this, it sometimes makes things worse. But I now understand why they would do it, if people like you get annoyed if they dared to complain about it.
So we stop doings things we like in case we get teased? sorry no.
Yeah that's great tell him that somehow being gay is wrong.
How far are you willing to take this? If a child is getting bullied because they don't have cool expensive clothes, would you tell that they should go out and buy them to stop being bullied? What if they were being bullied for being black or disabled? are you going to tell him/her to stop being black or disabled?
To avoid getting crap from people like getting stared at, not getting hired, being told to shut up, avoid rejections, to avoid bullies. We should be trying to get the people who are doing these things to stop it, not telling the victim that they are at fault.
Sure you can learn not to care but sometimes that can be a really hard thing to do under certain circumstances.
