I do yeah, as an example I tend to lose badly if/when I play poker, I have these really wide eyes and open features that just give away what I'm thinking. Lying is difficult, so I don't really do it, I'm told my eyes go really "shifty" the moment Its out of my mouth.

Most of the time I have a neutral slightly negative facial expression but it does change when the emotion is strong. Can't fake a smile to save my life. Looks like when an Android tries to smile in sci-fi. If you see me smiling in a picture it because I truly was happy at the moment.

I'm more expressive sometimes than I think I am too; when I want to be expressive I'm nervous and seem flat. When I don't want to express my true feelings, however, I give them away.

I've been told that I don't really show emotion through my face. When something good happens and I'm happy, my mother will say things like "You should tell your face you're not miserable".

I was wondering if people on this thread would say they smile more or less than "average"? I'd say less; particularly in photos.

Apparently my showing many facial expressions makes me "not autistic enough".
Although I don't always notice or recognize expressions in other people. In fact I once thought as a kid other people didn't show expressions at all except for smiling.

I smile for photos and stuff even though it usually feels weird and unnatural. My brother hardly ever smiles for photos. Mom says he's just shy. We have one photo taken at our parents' 20th anniversary party where we're all smiling except him. :) :) :) :|

Yeah, the weird and unnatural thing, I don't wear it well either, not just in photos but life too. Probably for the reason I spent years trying to "read" people by analysing their body language. It was a dead end...

But you can tell a real smile. If it doesn't reach the eyes, it's false. False smiles are "all teeth", and can be fairly menacing..its for this reason I can't wear a false smile, not comfortably at least.

in important situations like interviews when I smile to the interviewer, to them i'm doing a straight face giving them the vibe that i'm uninterested in the job. is why i pick i have only one facial expression and even feel the muscles in my face moving, especially when looking at a mirror, I feel like i'm smiling but in reality i look depressed as hell

Haha yeah I know the feeling, people are always saying "what's wrong"? They mean well, but when people say stuff like that it makes you a bit self conscious.

How do you tell without constantly looking in a mirror to gauge it ?

My face is ridiculous. I can't go two minutes without a weird face. It's so strange to be able to disassociate things that I do not like (no weird face) and then turn around and actually like something and facially fail. Sometimes it's kind of physical. Involuntary tics and all of that but it's very obvious that my face, brain and heart all have their own agendas. Now I just nod and smile. Way easier.

Apparently... my face is very expressive when it comes to something/someone I don't like, I just can't hide that displeasure.
