Nope. My hearing used to be hypersensitive for a while and that was really annoying because even with earplugs in I couldn't sleep as I could still hear traffic driving by alllll niiiiiight loooooong. That sucked.

why do you ask if I have hypersensitivity? and hypersensitivity to what?

I've had some very minor hypersensitivity to light before, but nothing beyond being just a little annoying.

I've definitely had sensory overload due to background noise, music, sound etc resulting in pretty high anxiety. That's annoying for sure.

I can't think of any tastes that I've been hypersensitive to.. well, except for maybe some times when my sense of smell has been quite highly sensitive and there were certain drinks - whiskeys & tequilas etc - that everyone was drinking and I did NOT want to have any and was made fun of for it, but the tastes/smells were so strong I felt like it might make me throw up.

All of these things have been pretty minor throughout my life, though. There's only been brief periods of days/weeks/months with the audio sensitivity, thankfully, vs. having it last for years and years on end.

So yeah, I guess I have had a few more sensory hypersensitivities than I first thought. They just haven't been a huge part of my life so I don't really think about them much.

well that sucks.

Just thought I'd share this here, since you might enjoy the story. Also because I didn't foresee this exact scenario coming up any time soon & it's kind of neat that we were discussing it here in this thread and then a couple of days later it happens.

Last night I went to visit my friends & my youngest God daughter (6) and her little brother (2) and while he was eating dinner, her little brother handed me his favourite stuffed animal (an elephant with a little tiny blanket attached to it) to hold for him while he ate. I hugged it for him and let it rest on my shoulder/chest while he finished eating. I made sure he saw me hugging his elephant and he was quite pleased with that. It was so cute. :)

Ok, you guys are going to laugh at this, but I keep seeing all you people with your plushies and for months I've been on this site thinking it was, well I don't know, but not really acceptable behavior. However, you have won me over!! I bought two of them today (they have to come from Amazon). One is an elephant and one is a moose. I hope they are as plushie as they looked.

I find this kind of funny, I am not a doll person, even when I was a kid I was never one. But I don't know, life is so stressful and I keep having these meltdowns at work so what if I have something soft to pet (maybe it will feel like my cat). I've also been having trouble getting to sleep, so that's why I got two.

goldfish, I almost bought that elephant blanket thing - haha see we do have some tastes in common.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for your plushie stories (pooh bear and dory where the ones that really got to me).

Yeah, Good for you Wozeree. Welcome to the wonderful world of plushie hugs. I think you will find them absolutely wonderful and very comforting. I know I do. I even carry one in my car for when I get a little stressed on the road. Perhaps you will honor us with pics. The moose especially sounds super cute.
