Being a woman is an advantage.

It certainly is. I wonder how many women in a committed relationship would be homeless without one?

Probably a decent quantity. Hence the existence of shelters for abused women.

Even though, it must be said, that there are probably at least ten homeless men to one homeless woman. The ratio is probably much less for teenage runaway homeless people.

Fnord, you presented yourself differently in the beginning of this thread in that you acted as if homelessness could not occur through no fault of ones own. Than you provide your background which shows you were faultless.

This is especially true for attractive single women. One of my sister's friends is a freelance model based in NYC, and she admitted that male friends and suitors pay for her rent, clothing, car, and other expenses. She's pretty much been taken care of her whole life. Many women stay single for as long as possible to take advantage of this.

What happens when you lose your looks? You better have something to fall back on. Those same guys paying the pretty girl's bills are going to drop her for someone younger eventually.

I've noticed most of the homeless in the streets are men. Very few are women. Women who are homeless usually look clean. I always wonder what brought them in the streets. Did they have a fight with their boyfriend so they got kicked out? They usually have shelters for women so women have a place to go to when homeless. They even have shelters for families too when they are homeless. When I see a car filled with stuff and it's obvious someone lives in their car, I assume they have a job and they got rented out of their home or evicted so they are working to get back on their feet again. They can't afford a hotel room and some people choose to not go to a shelter because of sexual assault or theft. I have seen homeless people say online, they join the gym so they can shower and they go to a laundromat to wash their clothes. But those people are privileged because they have jobs and can get one. They can get a PO box too for mail. Some use a address of a vacant home for delivery or when applying for work. They go to the library for internet or they use their smart phones and find a place to charge their phones. Barnes & Noble has plenty of sockets. Those people you might not see literally in the streets and making messes and causing a scene and camping out and making tent cities. The higher class ones would either live in a hotel room or stay with friends since they have friends who are also high class and have a home than an apartment. My parents were privileged to stay with a friend who lived in a big enough house that had room for us when we were between houses because their house had sold sooner than they were expecting. If they didn't have that privilege, the hotel room would have been the other option or they could have rented an apartment and lease it month to month.

If they are rich, they usually pay for plastic surgeries and stuff to keep their young looks. This is common in celebrities.

Fnord, I'm merely explaining what I saw. That's not arguing.

Fnord, have you told others that they can too better themselves or their situations? Your experience would be a decent road map for a few out there.
