Thanks. If I had a guess I would say I am slightly leaning more towards aspergers then high functioning autism as reading that link, I didn't really have any speech difficulties at all at an early age. I was very quiet and withdrawn and hardly said a word, but it wasn't at all that I couldn't speak. If anything I spoke three words very clearly at a very early age. Mum said it was 5 or 6 weeks old. My Dad made such a fuss of me it scared me as I thought I'd done something wrong (I remember the event clearly as I copied a TV advert as I wanted to see if I could copy the words), and because I assumed I had done something wrong, I stopped talking... And I then learned to talk at the normal average age of speaking for young infants. So I don't fit the HFA criteria.
However, in other aspects I do, where... Put it this way. About 50% of me leans towards aspergers and the other 50% seems to lean towards HFA. (I never knew there was a difference as many said HFA is the new term for aspergers syndrome. By reading the link you just added it becomes apparent this is not the case. Uhmmm. Interesing. Lots more to learn here and fathom out!

Amazing!

Same here, it's hard to fathom, isn't it?

Yes. Very hard to fathom.

My Dad said my words were very clearly pronounced. They were perfectly formed, unlike normal early child speech.

One thing I do know is that despite my many words, my actual vocablary range is limited, even now. I am always having to ask my Mum what certain words mean. This evening I had to ask what the word "Virtue" means.

When I was diagnosed the Dr told me that I would have been given a diagnosis of Asperger's in the past, now it's just classed as ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder)

Make of that what you will.

I've told people that I'm an aspie and I've told them that I'm autistic and no one has had much of a reaction, either way. :D

ASD is different from classic autism? Or is it the same?

The terminology of autism can be bewildering, with autism, Asperger syndrome and PDD-NOS often called the autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or sometimes the autistic disorders, whereas autism itself is often called autistic disorder, childhood autism, or infantile autism.

Here you go, try and get your head around this!

Oh no! Just clicked on the link and the first thing I saw (Not read it yet) is repeatitively lining things up or stacking things is a sign of autism in a child.. I was ALWAYS lining up my toy cars. I didn't play with them in the same way that other children did until I was older. I just lined up every car in rows and tried to put similar cars together in colour order.
I was always doing the same with felt pens etc... I could not understand other children who didn't do this.

And the playpark was torture to me. If a child jumped off a swing or a roundabout I would be in tears and would rush to try to stop the swing or roundabout from moving. I remember my Mum once had to drag me away from the playpark on a windy day because I was soo upset as the swings were moving in the wind!

Ah, poor little you!

What did you want to do at the park then?

I liked going on the slide, the horse, the roundabout and the swings. But after I was off them I had to make sure they were stopped and not moving. I would get soo annoyed and frustrated with other children who would jump off and leave the things moving. How could they do such a thing!

Well, you would fit in very well with my little gang of relatives that I take to the park. There is lots of talk about trains, they love pylons and wind turbines and lots of little things have to be just so.

Pylons! Dis you know that there are many different types? I have noticed about three different sizes and many different ways thwy are used, so the fittings and designs change to adapt to the criteria of the individual location they are used in.
