Interesting question.

"Ignorant" means "lacking education".

So it's not like calling them a "racist", or "Nazi", or an "SJW", or any other epithet that has to do with any political creed.

It's like calling them a "ret*d", or a "dumb cluck". Which IS an offense.

Except that it is...NOT the same as calling them a ret*d, or a dumbcluck, because it's not their lack of native intelligence you're attacking. It's just their lack of education (formal or otherwise) that you are attacking. So in theory its not as bad. Except...that it IS that bad because folks take it as being as bad. So you cant call folks "ignorant". Even if they are that.

A ret*d cant help being a ret*d. Likewise a normal IQ person who is not educated cant relive their whole lives to become "educated" in a general way. So yes it is just as bad an epithet as ret*d.

Though you can sometimes get away with calling them "ignorant" about some specific subject- a specific narrow slice of human knowledge. You might be able to get away with calling someone "ignorant about the epidemiology of the spread of diseases like the Coronavirus". If you said that to me...I would have no choice but to agree because...I don't know WTF the word "epidemiology" means (without googling it) so I wouldn't be in a position to be offended by you saying that I am "ignorant" about...whatever the thing that it means! Cause..I don't even know what it means!

So what have we learned Dorothy? :D

Words can be dangerous. You gotta be careful how you handle them. And...always make sure that "brain is engaged before mouth into gear".

And don't drink, and post on social media, at the same time.

Of course Blabs...and quote the immortal Dionne Warwick

And if I should ever go away
Well, then close your eyes and try
To feel the way we do today
And then if you can remember
Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

^Nice. How do you know you don't have friends here? This isn't Facebook - where you have friends statistically some of whom have never even met you or remember you if they did. We don't even have a thumbs up or thumbs down on here like on Quora or a follow option like Twitter!

so you will find it difficult to determine... and even friends have disagreements at times.

would you say we're friends or one great big family here? Or merely fellow citizens of our unique planet?

Good question.

If you define "friend" as someone you hang out with in real offline life then I haven't actually "made any friends on Wrongplanet" either. Ive never met a WP person in real life. But most WP folks live thousands of miles away from me. So even if you bond with someone on WP its still rare for you to actually ever meet them in person.

I do have folk I consider true friends but whom I've never met as they live all across the world. Some are scrabble buddies, others are WP buddies or folk from FB including a distant cousin whom I've never met. I think in today's world it IS possible to have friends you might possibly never meet in this current incarnation.

In fact sometimes it can be quite overwhelming trying to keep in touch with them all and chat to them.

Sweetleaf, if you don't want me to post on your thread, I get it. I won't if you tell me not to. FTR I am glad you have admitted your mistakes. That sounds way more condescending than I wanted that to, my apologies.

I'm quite lucky I guess being in the UK, I've met so many aspies IRL, like over 100. These days I go to groups for "NTs" or more people following my special interests. I mean, they're people of varying backgrounds but they totally get me.

does that mean you simply have not run across fellow WP'ing Melburnians, or that there aren't any here?

Australia is highly urbanised population - 90% of the population live in 3 cities Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, so having a hundred WP members from Melbourne is not that surprising

so that is like taking all the rest of the whole nation and outlying islands, still not to equal the population of one of those major cities then. interesting. :)

It's actually remarkable since most Americans think Australians live like "bushmen" like Paul Hogan or Steve Irwin.

I appreciate your capacity for reflection Sweetleaf, and you are one of those rare members who posts apologies when you consider that the right action.

This is a fairly rare and valuable ability without which WP would be less than it is.

We all make mistakes. Everyone. They are most likely to happen here, as posting errors, after being the recipient of a campaign of personal attacks, flaming and other obnoxious behaviour.

The inveterate sexism in the L and D subforum has been an ongoing form of member harassment for a long long time. That is what has to go from WP, not you.

I just feel like to remain here I am going to really have to start tip-toeing around and making sure to avoid posting responses to anyone I have ever had a conflict with or even posting in threads that they are actively posting in otherwise more conflicts are inevidable and it will just never end.

No one is targeting you, you are targeting others; and even in this thread you are still hinting stuff about me.

This is not a flaming post, but I am here to present facts so can others can fairly judge whether the "bad males" that you are mentioning are the true villains or not.

It all started in this thread, when you made a racist against me and my ethnicity, my reply to Calla was obviously a tease play joke:

Image

The whole interaction can be transparently be seen here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=381274&start=48

But did you stop only by this? No you didn't, you kept attacking me in another totally unrelated thread, fueled by racist assumptions I bet, and calling me sexist / women hate just because I said, that in my opinion, footsie is often seen as a sexual gesture - which I can't see how this mean sexism; I was just telling the OP what people generally think of footsies in order she doesn't do a faux pas (it's not something done in normal dates, but only between people already in relationship), it wasn't even off-topic because the OP was asking for dating advice and that would include faux pas not to do :

Image

thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=387601&p=8535715#p8535715

Yet, you keep trying to justify your 'anger moment' , because you claim I am a sexist - and you keep hinting so in this very thread.

So who really should be tip-toeing?

I challenge you, and anyone who is defending you like B19, to even find a single post of mine that promotes hatred, violence, enslavement or any incel-like ideas against women like the same way how you promoted racism and racist ideas in your post against me and ethnicity. If I ever did, I would have been banned long ago. Your claims are simply wrong and cannot be supported by any evidence.

Sweetleaf, you haven't even apologized - yet no apology can undo your racist offense, I used to think highly of you but you obviously hate me and think of me as an inferior middle eastern.

Yeah I can vouch for boo, he's a pretty decent fellow. We both get carried away sometimes but that's hardly a reason to crucify?
