I've heard a few American right wingers say that they believe asperger's is a made up syndrome.
Yeah well the thing you have to bear in mind about americain right wingers is they ALWAYS have something to hide in their closest so to speak so they like to take the attention of themselves.
Also this opinion is not isolated to right wingers there are professionals who feel this way as well. The main reason for this disagreement is because Doctor Kanner (Kanner autism what the stereotype autism is weve come to know) was a yank and Doctor Hans Asperger was a Kraut and of course the mentality of any doctor from this time period was that they were a nazi henchman of some sorts performing evil experiments on kids.
That basically is what the basis is they don't like the fact that the kraut finally got recognised by Lorna Wing and co cause he was on the wrong side in world war 2 and it is utterly pathetic. Same attitude displayed by the two cambridge scientists who discovered DNA without creditting Rosevelt Franklin till she was dead
Cause when you begin to think of aspergers in relation to the autistic spectrum you begin to see how it starts to become quite an odd enigma for the established theories in psychology and other fields start to come into question. Its a disorder but hold on its not because and oh wait its hereditary and oh wait its actually in quite a significant chunk of the intellectual population and err ohh its not really a disability but weve put it in the DSM IV now
