One of my biggest special interests are substances, chemicals, and especially psychoactive drugs. One of my favorite hobbies as a teenager were things like extractions, such as DMT from MHRB, making poppy straw concentrate, datura extracts for fun (never dosed it though, that's going too far for me.) I took it to the extreme as a teenager, and young adult, and drugs are still a special interest of mine, I just don't have a deathwish anymore like I did when I was younger.

one of my biggest special interests is guns which is most certainly socially unacceptable to many in America today.

pfff.. erm, the only one that comes to mind is Criticizing people for being idiots and not seeing what I see. when in fact I should realize that they might be incapable of seeing or unwilling to see it(what ever it might be). I usually keep my Pudding brain comments to myself however..

Usually it isn't the interest itself that's socially unacceptable in my case but moreso the way I feel about it and how much I talk about them that makes other people weirded out

Abigail is currently one for me, but since I'm fictoromantic it's difficult for me to talk about her without my interest in her seeming odd to people, since she's fictional . And I can't really explain being fictoromantic/aroace to my family so they're just confused when I say she's my wife, not as much anymore but it was totally awkward at first
And I think they're really tired of me constantly talking about Abigail

When I was an older kid I was obsessed with "the tweenies", a tv programme aimed at toddlers. I used to get a bit obsessed with other people and forgot to hide it. From a young age I've always been fascinated by sex, sexuality, the psychology there-of and when I was younger I had little concept of time and place. For example I used to tell family members how my puberty was going in detail.
Tbh I think most of my interests are fairly unremarkable topic-wise, but how oddly specific I am about the sub-topic or my level of passion tips them over into socially less acceptable.

I love the Tweenies. At least it ain't like some of the over PC, unimaginative drivel they have on for preschoolers today. There was often drama going on on the Tweenies, was so funny.

Ikr! Genuinely really witty. Bella was always my favourite because she was the rebel and I always felt an affinity for rebellious characters. When I've watched clips as an adult I rediscovered how funny Milo is.

I've never liked Bella. She was my worst character lol because she reminded me of a bully. I can identify with Milo because I always identify with the most hyperactive characters in shows.
But my favourite character is Jake. He's funny in an innocent way.

My special interest in all kinds of woodwind instruments and their history/music history is generally not socially unacceptable, so much as it is a little "nerdy" and most people aren't interested. I think the one way that it has not been socially acceptable was especially in high school when I wanted to try playing more instruments. My band directors did not care for that, because the expectation is to stick with one instrument and be the best at it.

Also always carrying around and reading a book on the history of woodwind instruments in high school probably looked very weird to people. Oh well.
