I'm beginning to really dislike this board!
Ok, I have read a pretty decent portion of this thread, and it makes me sad for two reasons.
1st, I have had a very fortunate life. Yeah, sometimes, it's no gem, but it has been a cake-walk when compared to what spaz says she has gone through. This thread made me realize I REALLY want to help, but I don't know how. I want to help so badly, but I don't know what to say, except there is always hope. Dead serious.
2nd, for part of this thread it seemed like a flame war. You know who you are. I implore you, grow up! If your post is not an attempt to help, then don't post at all! I am quite shocked at the mere possibility that a thread like this could erupt into another conflict. I'm really not upset. It always makes me sad to see conflict come from a thread that is meant to help someone. I'm sorry if this offends anyone. I hope you understand what I mean.
I have some weird compulsions on MySpace, like changing my display pic. layout, etc. (I have OCD as well as AS)
Anyhow, As far as this thread goes, I'm not arguing anymore. I'm also not posting personal things anymore. I know I can't work, but apparently, people on this board just don't believe me.
I may still come on here to read, but I'm not going to try getting social with people, because it only gets me hurt.
& to answer a few other questions, I do take meds for my anxiety. I just got them back about a week ago. (We had no health insurance or a few months).
& I have always been developmentally delayed. I've always been behind others my age.
Other girls my age would be interested in boys, & growing up, & I still wanted to play dolls. Obsessively. I am still obsessed with dolls. When I was in elementary school, teachers would try to get me to join the other kids, but I didn't want to. I wanted to sit by myself & play with my doll. The other kids picked on me a lot.
Who else says you're lazy? I thought Ticker was the only one who called everyone lazy for those whom don't have jobs. She just needs to be educated more.
Sounds like you were behind in social skills too and wanted to be a little kid longer just like me. I'm glad I'm not alone.
I haven't passed any judgement on you. I don't know if you have worked before and then had to quit but lot of aspies are unable to work and lot of them are. It's half and half.

In a lot of cases Ticker is right, just not all of them. I wouldnt say Ticker needs to be educated as such, more like certain members of this board who are utterly convinced that being an Aspie is a total barrier to a job. It isnt one, unless you let it be in the vast majority of cases.
Isnt every aspie behind in social skills, and most do like to act slightly younger than their age, or older. I wouldnt say you were alone at all. Nor would I say that lack of social skills is a barrier to a job, in a lot of cases its desirable.
I haven't passed any judgement on you. I don't know if you have worked before and then had to quit but lot of aspies are unable to work and lot of them are. It's half and half.
Its certainly not half and half, the vast majority of aspies are able to work. The half and half one applys to aspies and auties put together. Some aspies decide they are not able to work, often to be lazy more than anything else. There are however some genuine cases of aspies not being able to work, but they are a small minority.
No Ticker thinks just because she has a job, she thinks everyone can too. Not all of them are lazy, some just can't work. She doesn't realize some are unable to work because their sensory issues are so bad or they are too clumsy, their depression effects their work performance or their anxiety. I should ask her people in wheel chairs can use computers, so does that mean they can work? It's hard finding a job when you are in one. They need one where they can use their wheel chair. A guy ay my work is in one and he has one but he works in the human resources department at his computer.
My last BF made it sound like aspies aren't immature like I was and they were all ahead in development by having higher age level interests instead of little kid interests. He also made it sound like adult aspies don't have kid interests and their interests are in the range of teens and early 20's. I watched little kid shows like shows on 4KidsTV and Nicktoons, The Little Mermaid, pepperAnn, Dore the Exploror and boy did he get on my back about it. I told him I just enjoy those shows, not because my developmental level is at that level but no he still though I was at that level under 12 years old. As if I'm ret*d.
Ticker is right in most cases, as I said there are exceptions but they are rare. Even Flo held down a job at one point for christs sake. There are plenty of jobs you can do if you can use a computer, and nothing else. There is an awful lot you can do on the internet, and some without it. Its just that some people on this forum are too lazy to seek a job. It isnt difficult to make money, as long as you put the time in, in the vast majority of cases.
Your last BF is just pointing out social norms. He is clouded by being an NT, and acts it. Anyway, that bits a tangent really.

I'm tired of all this. I'm tired of people who have to come in here just to tell me "Ticker is right" & that I should get a job. maybe there is a minority of aspies who can't work, all I'm trying to say is I am one of them. There is no way I have the ability to hold down a job! I'm through with this! Just leave me alone, I'll stop posting here. I'm sorry I ever found this board, cuz it's caused me nothing but trouble! I feel like I'm in school again with people yelling at me, telling me I can do things when I know I CAN'T!! !! !! !!
Good bye!! !

Public funds, or the taxpayer (which I would like add, i will be paying a lot of money to when i get a job) In the UK you get paid grants to go to uni, and the rest is in loans.

intresting. i'm happy for you, but here in america ssdi is not welfare. so the next time you want to judge, or have a word of acknowlegement about how some people should be living, dont. because you dont even live in the same country

For those that don't know, you may have heard about freddie macs(AKA FHLM) and fanniemaes(AKA FNMA) in the US. They are bonds, in the US, issued to pay for home loans. SAllie maes are used for Student loans.
As for hadron being on a lot, so am I. 8( Believe it or not though, I STILL manage to get a lot done.
I know what Aspies can and cant do, and my arguement was general (pointing out there are lots of people on here who can work, but wont). Dont take my argument personally. As for nationalities, there is very little difference between the two countries in terms of jobs availiable, the difference is in how they treat employees.
On the disability ones, in the UK we have incapacity benefit (which is equilvalent to what you get), plus DLA (disability living allowance). DLA helps deal with the costs of living, and does not relate to being able to work, or your income. That is what I can and do claim.
