Good Day Mr. Wolf my psychiatrist said, as our first clumsy getting to know you better appointment began. They next said Wolf I've been reading up on autism in preparation for our meeting today. I have discovered that you autistic's come in two basic flavors. There are autistc's that come with special gifts and parlor tricks. Alternately there are autistics who present without special skills tricks and abilities... Which kind of autistic are you? I was asked.
WOW! That is one of the dumbest yet! That would be like someone like me(I'm a computer consultant) saying "I've been reading up on computers for this assignment today. I have discovered that they come in two flavors. Some are IBM compatible, and some are MAC compatible. Which kind is this?"
That is funny because it would indicate ignorance even after admitting you have studied on the subject quickly for a task you have no idea about.
"consultant" Which is it?
They IBM compatible I guess
"Consultant" Where's the mouse?
They There is NO mouse!
"Consultant" HOW DO YOU RUN WINDOWS?
They "WE DON'T!"
"Consultant" Why not?
They "It's plain old UNIX!"
"Consultant" WHAT!?
They It's an RS/6000
"Consultant" So it is MAC compatible?
They It is an I.B.M. RS/6000 and is IBM RS/6000 compatible!
"Consultant" Then let's boot up windows so I can install this printer driver to fix your UNIK!
They (Hands up in air) Get the @#$%^&*( OUT OF HERE!
The REALLY sad part is that I just realized I actually had this happen! In trying to get details on how to program an HP printer for color, the "tech support" guy INSISTED that I install the windows printer driver! The system was running UNIX, and the printer routines couldn't use a driver and **I** was asking how to use the printer directly.
