Laziness in general for me no, but motivation to do somethhing more active perhaps... Sometimes I just don't have the energy to engage in things that need doing. Otherwise my motivations as such are tightly scheduled that involve games or the internet. I'm motivated in doing something the same way, everyday. :?

Possibly, I think it stems more from our restricted interests though, we get stuck in a rut easily if that makes sense. From the outside perspective this one-track mind towards our only interest might seem like we're being lazy. I know my dad isn't exactly too happy that I spend almost all my free time at home gaming and wasting time on the internet, and honestly if I had a kid I'd be a bit concerned about them if they where doing this too. Then again, from my view this is perfectly normal because it's what I enjoy. Besides this, I know 'Inertia' can make you feel paralyzed, so that too could be seen as laziness.

I'm usually lazy, but when I'm in a bad mood I get too lazy to stand up, get food or go to the toilet.

I can be pretty lazy sometimes. My place is never 100% tidy.

I don't know about laziness but I am the king of procrastination.

I heard laziness is a trait of really smart people. Depends on the Autistic.

My great grandmother had a saying... "There are no lazy people. There's something wrong with them."

That said, lack of focus, special interest distractions, horrendous executive functioning/time perception, fatigue etc all all symptoms of ASD and accompanying comorbids that can be perceived as laziness.

I get lazy. I often lack motivation to do things. I also get too lazy to eat or go to bed and stuff and my husband laughed and said no I was just too into my special interest.

Lazy is a nasty and negative label. It makes us sound as if we are at fault for our lack of motivation, and that it's just so easy for us to just get out of our "comfort zone". But it's never that easy when you're autistic. You're lucky if you even have a comfort zone to begin with, and what may be "discomfort" to an NT may be brutally painful and terrifying to an autistic person. :(

I am not sure where the OP is or if he even posts here under a different username but he was always pretty harsh despite being on the spectrum himself. I remember his other posts as well.

Isn't it rather procrastination due to anxiety rather than laziness?

If laziness is an autistic trait, then in my case; it's more on executive functioning than anything else.

I have the motivation, the means, the confidence, the energy...
I could wrestle with my mood being lazy or unwilling. I can ignore exhaustion and caution alarms. I don't fear uncertainty or mistakes.

Even with all that -- I have yet to truly bypass executive dysfunction.

But you know what? From my experience, having 'good EF' is more of a 'sensation' of balance -- like an oil to a gear -- a part of something within becomes more manageable. Likely physiological. It could go as far as biochemical.
Then supposedly EF skills practiced from knowledge and experience comes off as a second priority. :skull:

I procrastinate since I get locked onto things then hours go by without me noticing it.
